Being a fan, I loved the Speed Racer movie and wanted all of the movie cars to run in our Hot Wheels Speed Racer Sky Jump Track Set (which is fantastic). This is a good "collector" set, but that's not why my kids and I wanted the set. Sadly, the cars don't all perform well. The Mach 4, 6 and Grey Ghost are the fastest. The Mach 5 does pretty well, too. But the Racer X Shooting Stars don't run well seemingly from wheel drag. Snake Oiler and the Royalton GRX are too heavy. Maybe it's deliberate so the hero wins even on the toy set. In addition, however, the wheel axles bend too easily (same problem as the Hot Wheels of my childhood :-) ) so that now the Mach 6 doesn't run well and the Shooting Stars barely crawl. :-( And where is the Togokhan car?

Overall, I'd be okay with this if it were half the price. But at this price, I'm expecting better quality.

These cars are great. I was a huge Speed Racer fan as a kid and now my boys are. These cars are specifically made to work on the speed racer hotwheels sets especially the Speed Racer Sky Jump set. These are made lighter than regular hotwheels so that they can go faster and jump higher. These are the only cars that I have found that will work on the Speed Racer sets. GO Speed Racer.

My son is crazy about Speed Racer and there was no doubt that he would enjoy the cars. My only disappointment is the price. It cost $50 for 9 plastic/die cast cars. You would think I bulk purchase discount would apply but I think the cost reflects 9 individual cars. But he is very happy with them and they look just as he wants them.
