I was thrown back in time when the theme song of Speed Racer began playing. It was an awesome experience! The theme song, introduction of the Mach 5, episode, and final credits hadn't changed based on memory.

Overall, "The Great Plan" was a classic animation. It contained an excellent plot, and the so-called violence was very mild compared to today's cartoons. The quality of the (new) VHS images was excellent. I highly recommend this tape for viewing!

This was the first episode of the cartoon Speed Racer.

Speed has to out wit Ace Ducey and his gang. He enters the Sword Mountain Race to win 5,000 bucks so Pop's Racer can re-build the mach5 race car engine.

Speed and Duggery take a short cut during the race to keep Ace Ducey and his gang at bay. They mistakenly drive their cars right into the path of a volcano. Can Speed get out in time? Will Speed save Duggery? The fast paced action involves Speed, his girl Trixie,& Pop's in a chase to recover the mach 5's stolen plans. episode also shows off the mach 5s' devices.

I bought this for my 4 year old son and he loves it. It's wonderful that I can share something I enjoyed very much as a child with him. d

My Husband got this video for my Son because it was one of his favorites as a child. From bopping to the theme song at the beginning, to hiding when the 'bad guys' looked as if they might win, my Son was captivated from the start. As an adult I found the dialog and the story to be somewhat dated, however the examples it teaches are never old and never stated too often. In an age where many cartoons show explicit violence this video, despite some good old fashioned slapstick still tells us that good triumphs over evil.

If you have children, it's a must to share this with them.
