Track 1 is great, it's the one at the end credit of the movie. The rest is ok but with no signification. Fair...

I thought I was getting the original motion picture "SPEED" but I got this one. This cd is not bad but it is not as good as the oficial "SPEED" sound track by far.

A bit of a hodge podge of songs from the successful Keanu Reeves flick Speed. Plus a few other bits 'n' pieces 'inspired by' aforesaid film.
A brief perusal of the track listing will probably tell you if there is anything interesting you want to score yourself and given how cheap this thing sells for if there is something you are even half interested in hearing it's probably worth it, heck, the postage will cost you more than the product in all probability. My own two cents worth is that there are a few rock radio staples here like Pat Benatars Rescue Me and a couple of cool numbskull rockers in Mr Speed by KISS and Speed from Billy Idol but little else that really makes this thing hang together as anything other than a random bunch of tunes. Gary Numan, Ric Ocasek and the Gin Blossoms certainly aren't nobodies, but this collection of songs really does feel like your friend with bland taste in music hitting 'shuffle' on his ipod. Like I say - check the track listing as there may be some curio you are after. Otherwise this is fairly inconsequential.

With my job, I spend a lot of time listening to A) the radio or B) my mp3 player. The music on this soundtrack mostly holds up with some awesome rock songs. I used to have this on tape, and it got eaten by the tape player. Finally purchased the cd because this is one of my top soundtracks to listen to.

Even in the early-to-mid 1990s, not a whole lot of thought went into movie soundtracks (as opposed to today where promoting songs from a movie soundtrack are equal to a singers' or groups' "regular" material). Sure, lots of time went into making them (obviously), but a great number of soundtracks are nothing more than a collection of orchestral instrumentals that the vast majority of the buying public are simply not interested in owning (unfortunately). While that problem isn't found with the soundtrack to "Speed," the majority of the songs here just don't stick with me.
I'm normally a fan of Rod Stewart, Pat Benatar, and Ric Ocasek (of The Cars), but their contributions here ("Hard Road," Benatar's remake of Aretha Franklin's "Rescue Me," and "Crash," respectively) reek of just putting a song on a soundtrack for easy money because it's not up to par with their other material (and I prefer the original one-hit wonder "Cars" over the remake included here). It's a shame this soundtrack isn't what it could be as I do favor two songs here. Even though it was only in the movie for, literally, a split second as background music (in the bar scene), I love "Cot" by Carnival Strippers. My favorite here is "Go Outside and Drive" by Blues Traveler. I've always loved John Popper's wordplay (his Meatloaf-like lyrics) and I believe the band remains one of the most underrated of all time. Great movie, but the soundtrack isn't worth it - at all!
