This metal leaf starter kit contains the essentials needed to complete a metal leaf project. Kit contains: 6 sheets of leaf, 1/4-ounce adhesive, 1/4-ounce sealer, 1/4-ounce basecoat, 1/4-ounce antiquing glaze. Metal leaf is a micro-thin sheet of metal separated by pages of tissue paper. All through the history of decorative art, gold leaf has played a very prominent role. Precious metals continue to exemplify quality and good taste. With inexpensive composition leaf, you can afford that special look in home decor and personal accessories, without the expense of precious metals.

Speedball Mona Lisa Gold Leaf Starter Kit I just purchased and succesfully Used this prioduct on SIGN Lettering, and Although I am a professional Artist, I have never used anything like this or gold leafed anything before, but I was amazed at the ease of use, and success I had because of the great instructions included!
Should I ever need to gold leaf anything again, I'd buy more of these GREAT products in a heartbeat, and You should also !
I also bought some extra Gold leaf Flakes and a book of sheet in case I made an error, but this kit contains a package of leaf and is ready to use immediately out of its packaging ! and it was more than enough for leafing THE 21 4" routed Letters on My new Sign, " W O O D B I R D S I N F L I G H T . C O M " and I still have plenty left over for another project ! The Price is right and the Product is Fabulous !
You won't regret buying this, and I certainly don't !

You may get better results than I did, if you already know how to gild. Mine came out terrible. I tried following the directions, and I also tried without using the red basecoat (my surface was already sealed). I got the same results both ways. One thing that would have been helpful, and which I had to look up online elsewhere, is if the instructions stated that you're not supposed to try to burnish off the extra leaf until you let the size dry overnight. If you're using this for something like lettering, it will smear.

Title says GOLD LEAF, the product description has GOLD LEAF in it, but look closely and you'll find "COMPOSITE LEAF" at the very end of the description.
Talk about a bait-in-switch. This leaf has NO GOLD in it. Instead they sell you COMPOSITE GOLD, which is 85% copper and 15% zinc.
Oh but wait, they produce the same effect same right?
NO! Copper and Zinc OXIDIZE UNLESS PROPERLY SEALED.
SKIP THIS PRODUCT AND BUY THE REAL THING!!!

Rcvd a box-NONE of the 4 jars of coating. To get what I PAID for, I PAY MORE to send back EMPTY box? Unreal.
