I have a Canon 7D and a Speedlite 600EX-RT flash. I'd like to buy another flash for off camera lighting. Will the 600EX-RT trigger the 430 ex-II? W

A
Yes. It should work since the 600 can be used as a master and a slave flash. And the 430 is a slave. It should be able to go off as long as the 600 is in master mode and your camera has both of the flashes set.

Yes, it will, but only optic not RF.

Yes in infrared mode but not via radio mode. I would sell the 430 and get two 600's to take full advantage of everything the 600ex can offer

Yes, but only in optical mode, which eliminates the many benefits that Canon introduced with the new radio system. When you try to use the remote control on your television, and someone stands in the way, the signal gets blocked and the remote stops working. This is the same concept with the older optical triggering system that you'll have to rely on for the 430ex-II. If you have two 600EX-RT flashes, they'll use a radio triggering system instead, which can function through objects and even walls.

A
Yes, but via the old optical triggering system, not via radio. That said, your 7D can act as an optical trigger for both the 600 & 430.

They can sync, but NOT in RF mode. You'd need another 600. In addition, the 7D can't utilize RF, only ETTL or optical. Only camera bodies made/released in 2012 work with RF.

A
It will, but only the way 430's receive the signal, which is optically, not via radio transmission. So sort answer is yes, but won't be as reliable as getting another 600 (which is much more expensive).

A
From what I understand you can trigger it with IR but definitely not with the radio. The 600 EX is great with another 600EX or the STE3 RT.

Good luck.
