5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great cap!
I'm on my 5th cap now I think. Silicone is great and lasts forever. Unlike rubber (which can snag hair) and latex (which some people are allergic to) silicone fits smoothly over wet hair, has a glossy finish so it looks great and doesn't lose elasticity. I have a some advice if you want to try this product that I've learned overt the years:

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Small
I can't get this cap to even cover my ears. It is way too small. I am an average sized woman, 5'6", not overweight. My head size is on the large end of the "normal" scale. So, if your head is at all large I would not recommend this cap.

1. Always rinse and hang dry. I've left wet caps in my gym bag and after a month of two of neglect, it develops black spots. I don't know if it's mold, it doesn't wash off...and you'll have to buy a new cap if you don't like the spotted look.
2. Pull it on gently. I've ripped one when I was trying to stretch it over my head because my long nails cut right through it. It's not cloth so you have to be careful. This goes for latex and rubber, too.
3. Wet your hair first. If your hair is dry when you put it on, you will trap air under the cap. And since it's not a permeable material, the cap will start to come off while you swim because of the air trying to escape inside.
4. Pick a fun color.
That's it. Have a great swim!

5.0 out of 5 stars COMFORTABLE AND DURABLE, February 17, 2007

I have used this cap almost daily for over a year. It still fits snugly and is very comfortable. Writing this review has made me think to order another one now, for the inevitable day my old one wears out.

I have a rather large head and found many caps didn't fit comfortably. This one is very elastic and is great.

UPDATE: 12-2011 Bought an extra but still on the first one, despite years of daily swimming. Impressive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Swim Cap, December 6, 2006
This review is from: Speedo Silicone Swim Cap (Sports)
I had trouble getting water in my ears before wearing this cap. Now no problem! It keeps my hair fairly dry, or at least drier than with other caps I've tried. It's easy to put on and take off--no hair pulling. It's lasted well so far. Much better than wearing a cap with a chin strap.

5.0 out of 5 stars best swim cap, May 20, 2007

I swam competitively for most of my life, and this was the only cap that I enjoyed using. Latex caps snagged my hair and gave me allergic reactions. Cloth caps feel nice but they're not for competitive swimmers, as they slow you down. The silicone caps are a breeze to put on and even held my waist-length hair.

I learned to wet my hair completely with water (from shower) before putting on the swim cap from other reviewers. This method was great because it ensures the cap to stay fitted and not to slip off. I have long hair that reaches my mid-back, and this swim cap keeps them well-protected during swimming. (By the time I'm done swimming for an hour, my hair that was previously wet become partially dry!) Now I enjoy swimming almost daily without having to worry about the hair damage caused by swimming pool water.

I have gone through a number of laytex caps and they all had their issues. This silicone cap is great and has been problem free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fits great, doesn't stick to hair..., August 6, 2007
This review is from: Speedo Silicone Swim Cap (Sports)
I just got back into swimming a few months ago. And even though I'm not of Olympic caliber, and neither do I have long hair I need to harness, I felt getting a swim cap would help eliminate some drag, but mainly protect my hair from eventual chlorine damage. (It feels so stringy even after showers it must be harmful, methinks).

Anyway, the cap fits fine, even for someone with a big noggin as myself. it feels awkward, of course --and I can't quite figure out where the tops of my ears fit into the whole equation-- but other than that it slips on and off smoothly, and the material is firm yet smooth in texture. Dries quickly, doesn't go moldy with moisture, etc, like wet clothes, and has a nice variety of colors from which to choose, if that's your concern.

Overall, I got this `cause folks had good things to say about it, but it wasn't high-end in cost like the ones racers wear.

4 solid stars

Product is nice quality. A couple of times I've tugged on it and thought I should have put a fingernail through it but no damage to the cap.
I find myself tugging on this quite a bit - it doesn't want to seem to stay positioned on my head well. However with that said, it feels very tight on my adult head - quite possibly it's a better size for a tween/teen child or small adult (I take a 7 1/4 riding helmet if that helps anyone with size). It's tight enough that it's somewhat uncomfortable. I don't have very long hair (shoulder length) and my hair is not terribly thick, so it's not that I'm trying to stuff a lot of hair in there either. As one reviewer mentioned, it does help to dampen your hair before putting the cap on. If your hair is completely dry, the cap does a lot of sliding around. I know a swim cap needs to be snug to prevent water from getting in and to prevent the cap from sliding off, it just is a little uncomfortably tight like it could be sized just a little larger (or my head a little smaller :)

After I let my very thick hair grow out to my waist I kept breaking almost new latex caps. Initially I bought a lycra cap, which fit but my hair was getting full of chlorine and the cap did not stay on well. I tried this silicon cap which fits, stays on very well if you wet your hair before putting it on and try to "squish" out air bubbles. It helps with keeping most of the pool water out of most of your hair. I've had my Speedo silicon cap for 8 years now and it's still fine!
