I had a generic half-elliptical kickboard that cost me just $5, but forgot it at the public pool one day so decided to splurge and get this one...wow, you DO get what you pay for! It's smaller, lighter, yet seems to be much more buoyant! And I love the multiple hand positions...the slots were a touch of genius. It makes my kicking workouts much more enjoyable.

I am 57 and after two back surgeries I swim for fitness and do not swim competitively, except when I want to blow away the person in the lane next to me. :) I swim 3-4 times/week and I use this as part of my swim routine. I have my swim fins on when I use it. My average swim is 2 1/2 to 4 miles. I have made it 7 miles and I am trying to get to 10 miles by the end of this year. 1/2 of the time I will be doing various kicks and using this board.
So, about the board and not me. First off it looks cool; not just one of your flimsy blue or yellow boards the pools buy. It is two tone; the top is black and the bottom gray. It makes no difference which side is up; both sides are identical except for the color. After several miles of hard swimming and if I am not trying to lap another swimmer I will turn the gray side up and slow my swim down some to let my muscles relax a little. And then someone else will get in the pool and the swim is on, the black side will be up again and we are going at it; the board does not care which side is up but it gives me a mental surge. Like others have said the two cutouts make for great handholds and are good for control especially when you start to get tired. Like I said earlier, it has been in the water 3-4 times/week for over 1 year and I can see no sign of the rubber material breaking down. It also has not faded at all and it looks as good now as it did when it was new. Out of all of the swim items that I have owned; hand paddles, fins, lap counter, goggles, etc. this is the item that I have been the most happy with. The other items get used for awhile and then replaced or left in the gym bag, but this one is with me on every swim. The shape of it also allows it to go in my checked baggage. Wow, what else can I say about it but the 5 stars that I gave it; the only item that I have ever bought from Amazon that got more than a 4.

When I received the speedo I was surprised. I thought it would be bigger than what it is. I took it to the lake
and I was really impressed with it. I'm 200 lbs. and I straddled it like riding a horse and it kept me afloat. I enjoyed working my upper arms this way. I could not move nothing and stilled stayed afloat. Just drifting along in the water. It may be small, but it does a great job. I love the design. This is the one to get. It may keep a person from drowning. I love it.

This kickboard measures 19" x 13" and is great for workouts in the pool. It keeps my face and hair out of the water, and helps me work my legs. It does smell when you first open it (like all foam and plastics today) so I took off the plastic wrap, and left it out for a few days before using it. It is sturdy and lightweight. I rinse it off as soon as I get out of the pool and expect it to last a long time.

This is your basic kickboard for adult swimming. It is made of fairly sturdy foam, so it's good for focusing in on your lower body in the pool. The handles are comfortable for use, or you can grab onto the top of the board to support your upper body a bit more.

I like the shape and openings for handles, both of which make it different from the typical kick board. The handle openings make it really easy to grip and use in the water. I do wish it came in a third color option: red, but it's not a deal breaker. When I first opened the package, the kick board had an overwhelming chemical smell. After using it 2 times in the past week, the smell has subsided. Before the first use, especially with children, you may want to simply remove the plastic shrink wrap and let it air out for a day or two outside. Other than the smell, I would recommend this product to my friends and family.

Love the Speedo Competition II Kickboard. It is great for developing/toning my stomach muscles - beats doing crunches. Easy to transport to and from the pool. No strain on my neck - keeps me afloat - allows me to exercise my legs by kicking.

This board is awesome. Love the colours and works wonderfully... gets the circulation in those legs going. Looks like a swimming aid but works you out amazingly. Built really well like most speedo products!
