The purpose of a kickboard is to isolate the muscles of the legs and give a more intensive lower-body workout. For years and years, Speedo has manufactured this kickboard, and for generations of swimmers, this was the standard. There are other kickboards, with different shapes and styles, different hand cut-outs, etc., but these generally cost more money. Speedo's kickboard is relatively inexpensive, not to bulky, and does what it is supposed to do - give the legs a good workout. The kickboard is durable, generally does not chip or crack (it will dent however), and lasts forever. Why pay more when this is all you need?

This is not the item that Speedo sells as a Speedo Adult Kickboard. Go ahead, google it. Then google the Speedo Junion Kickboard. They are different, right? This is the same as the Speedo Junior Kickboard. How do I know? I ordered one of each and they arrived in the same package and they are the identical size.

So, given that the Speedo Adult Kickboard is identical to the Speedo Junior Kickboard (but more expensive), there are two possibilities:
(1) you ordered this wanting the Junior Kickboard but don't care that you paid more
Solution: buy the right item and send me the difference.
(2) you really did want the Adult Kickboard
Solution: return this item. Oh but you can't.

But in no case does it make sense to buy this item.

And another thing: this item is not eligible for "Standard refund (Not available for this item)" nor "Replacement (Not available for this item)". If you have time to kill, you can "If you would like a refund instead of replacement, contact Customer Service."

So I am taking suggestions: talk to customer service to return a $15-ish item? Suck it up and admit that my kids now have two kickboards and I have none? Post your comments.

On a separate note, the item is listed on Amazon as having these dimensions: "Product Dimensions: 3 x 1 x 1 inches." Really? Three cubic inches of foam?

Exactly what I was looking for. Good size, not too flimsy, fits perfectly in a Jansport backpack. Would definitely buy again.

Why review a kickboard, you may ask? Aren't they all pretty much the same? While this is basically true, there are a couple of nice features about this board that made it ideal for me. Most people on my Masters team own the yellow TYR board. That can make it confusing on the deck to figure out whose board is whose. This board's blue color helps distinguish it from the others. In fact, when I was searching for a board, I deliberately tried to find one that was not yellow. It seems like, when I was a kid, kickboards came in all the colors of the rainbow, but I couldn't find very many color choices, and each vendor only had one or two different colors. Also, this board is a couple of inches shorter than the TYR board. I sometimes ride my motorcycle to practice, and the longer TYR board doesn't fit in my backpack. This one fits nicely, along with my fins, buoy, and other gear. One potential downside to this board is that it appears to be a bit spongier than the TYR, so I've already got a ding in the surface. I will have to wait and see about its long-term durability. All in all, I would definitely recommend it.

Hey, it is affordable, does what it is supposed to and seems to be as sturdy as a kick board should be. If you are not a pro and don't want to pay more for something fancy, then you need to search no further than this board.

I ordered this kickboard for the backyard pool. I have an ongoing 'neck"issue and some knee issues that prevent me from swimming in a normal fashion. This kickboard allows be to move my knees in a very supportive water environment and get in much needed cardiovascular exercises I could not other wise do. It was VERY inexpensive, but its very durable and after one month in a saltwater pool STILL looks brand new. I would reccommend this particular kickboard for any swimmer who needs some flotation assistance in the water!

Of course I did get these for my kids, but it still reminded me of my time spent at the YMCA as a youth learning to swim. These boards work great, are very lightweight, and I love them. The only thing I had little problem with, was the label that is stuck to the board by Speedo. This paper label is glued onto the board with a thin line of adhesive. Be careful when you remove this label. The first one I unwrapped and took the label off of, I pulled it right off not thinking about anything, and it took a little bit of the top finish of the kickboard with it. Not a big deal, it didn't leave a gouge or anything, but you can notice it. The other two I pulled the labels off much slower and more carefully. When done slowly, the adhesive lifts with no issues. Just remember that when you do it. Overall I love them! Good job Speedo.

I've only started swimming in the last few months, so I don't have any previous boards to compare this one to. But I can say that this board is sturdy and seems to be the right size for an adult. I use it for kicking with fins and without, and it works great for me either way. No complaints, and I would buy it again.
