5.0 out of 5 stars mask and snorkel
excellent value - high quality - very satisfied - the only challenge, for someone inexperienced like me, was how to attach the snorkel to the mask - there were no instructions - there was a ring on the snorkel that obviously was for attaching on the mask so several of us who bought the same mask for our cruise gave it a shot - the simplest way was to just remove one side...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fair snorkeling set but buyers beware
I bought two of these sets for my honeymoon in Maui. Generally ,the snorkel set was usable but definitely not as good as I hoped. Here is a breakdown of my experience:

Pros:
-Masks rarely fog up if worn properly. This is the first snorkel set that I've used that actually doesn't fog as often.
-It is a strong snorkel mask and very durable...

5.0 out of 5 stars mask and snorkel, February 18, 2008
excellent value - high quality - very satisfied - the only challenge, for someone inexperienced like me, was how to attach the snorkel to the mask - there were no instructions - there was a ring on the snorkel that obviously was for attaching on the mask so several of us who bought the same mask for our cruise gave it a shot - the simplest way was to just remove one side of the head strap on the mask, insert the strap through the ring that is on the snorkel and put the strap back in place - however, this is very difficult without something to get the strap started through the connector because the tip of the strap would fold over when you tried to push it through - so we used a piece of palm branch we found on the beach (poor us) - that was used as a guide and it worked fine - others slipped part of the ring off the snorkel instead of taking the strap off the mask - regardless, we all got the snorkel attached and everything worked great - which says a lot for the equipment since none of our clumsy efforts broke anything - the rubber was very flexible and sturdy, and we all had a great time!!!

-It is a strong snorkel mask and very durable.

Cons:
-These brand new snorkel sets have a very unpleasant smell to them when opening the package.
-The snorkel straps don't stay on and occasionally slip off.
-If the snorkel straps slip off the clip, they take patience to put back on through the clip. (This was the most frustrating part. It took me almost 15 minutes to clip it back on.)
-Water fills up on the bottom of the snorkel funnel frequently.

I could not have expected a better product for the price. The mask is comfortable and retains its clarity. I have a moustache, which always makes it a little difficult to get a good seal around the nose, but this mask and snorkel perform as well for me as ones I've used at much higher prices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Snorkeling in Caymans, January 22, 2008
We bought these a month before our vacation to the Cayman Islands - and they paid themselves off within the first 2 days - rental there is about US$12.50 per day per person. The mask worked great, didn't let water in, and fogged only on two occasions, but overall it's very comfortable, easy to view and breathe. It's somewhat difficult to hook up the snorkel to the mask, it takes two people pretty much to do it. Takes a few swims to get used to snorkeling if it's the first time, but after that it's looking like one of the best things to do. We bought the fins separately from this mask after reading reviews on sets. Would recommend this snorkel set to anyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating dilemma with this product..., September 30, 2008
By
The mask and snorkel are good quality and work well. However, attaching the snorkel to the mask is nearly impossible! The snorkel comes with a band that should allow this to happen easily. However, the design of the snorkel makes it extremely hard to slip the band off the end of the snorkel. We also tried taking the strap off the mask to attach it, but then rethreading the strap through the mask was another near impossible task. If not for this issue, I would have rated this product with 5 stars...

5.0 out of 5 stars Liked it so much I ordered 5!, July 9, 2008

After reading the feedback, I originally only bought 2 snorkels. After receiving the initial 2 and trying them out, I bought 3 more! The reviewers are right about the smell - just make sure you air out the snorkels for a couple days before using them, then they don't smell at all. They're also right about the difficulty connecting the snorkel to the mask, but as long as you know that before hand, it relieves some of the frustration. Just remove one side of the strap from the mask, slide the snorkel on, and reattach the strap (that's the hard part that takes some patience and a little creativity). As for the mask size, these masks are not too small at all. I bought these masks for everyone in my family ranging from my 9 year old daughter to my husband, who has a large head. As long as you adjust the mask straps, the masks fit everyone just fine. The snorkels work fine and the masks don't fog up or leak - definitely a good product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible odor, April 10, 2009
This review is from: Speedo Adult Recreation Mask/Snorkel Set (Sports)
I bought a similiar Speedo brand mask and snorkel At Target (youth size) for my daughter. The odor was unbearable when it was first unpackaged. Now, 3 weeks later it is still present, but much less so. Now, I have it outside, to see if the sun and rain can resolve this problem. If not, I'll return it and get another brand before we go to the Bahamas. I just bought a U.S. Divers brand for myself--it has a very subtle pleasant plastic odor, not like the Speedo. The Speedo odor is not subtle by any means. I assume that those people who gave this good reviews must have gotten ones without the odor, because the one I got was intolerable.

The other reviewer is right- these have such a terrible smell it's hard to even be in the car with them.
Mine are going back to Amazon. I think it's a shame that Speedo sells a product of this low quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great inexpensive way to snorkel, December 15, 2009
We bought 3 of these snorkel sets for our upcoming cruise. We took them to the local pool to try them and we were all impressed by how well they worked. If we were to buy snorkel sets locally, the price was around $50 each, so these were a tremendous value for us.
