Finally! A quality made suite that fits!, July 9, 2011
My daughter goes through bathing suites constantly. Every few weeks we seem to be out looking for yet another suite for her.
If we manage to actually find a suite for a 10 year old that doesn't appear to have been made for a Victoria's Secret swimsuit model (string bikinis for kids, really?), we can never seem to find one that fits her correctly or one that will withstand more than 5 times out swimming with friends. The last suite actually stretched out in the abdomen somehow and the stomach area became all poofy and see through, after wearing it about 3 times.
After many failed, lost, torn and uncomfortable bathing suites I stumbled across these Speedo brand suits. I ordered one here on Amazon (Prime shipping) because I needed it fast (kids are in swimming lessons a few times each week). I had no idea what a great suite this was going to be.
Because of her height and muscular frame, I ordered it much larger than her pants size, but I always need to do that with her swimsuits. She wears a 12 in pants, but the size 16 Speedo suite fit her perfectly. The fit is comfortable without being too tight, but also is not loose on her in any way. It stays on while in the pool, the front stays up while out playing with friends sliding on the Slip-and-Slide and after tons of use still looks brand new. I would say if you don't know the childs size your buying for, and they are an average size, definitly go at least 1 size up from their pants size when picking one of these up.
I ordered the cranberry/navy suite, and the colors are rich and vibrant. It has a very sliming silouet and the material is great quality, much better than any other suite I have ever purchased. The straps fit her very comfortably, and the leg holes are at a modest height, not going way up her torso.
I HIGHLY reccomend this suite for any young girl. While it may not be covered in glitter and rainbows, it ends up looking and holding-up much better while playing in the water and after getting worn than any of the other suites we had in the past did have novelty to them. It's definitly a good quality suit made to look good and last.

This review is from: Speedo Girls 7-16 Voyager Splice Swimsuit (Apparel)
Bought this in seafoam (dark blue with teal side stripes) for my then 6 y.o. Runs very small, she's very slim but tall, so I bought size 8 and it lasted for about a year. The color started fading only after a year of regular (2-3 times a week) swimming practice at the chlorinated water. No ripping, the suit held up great, but now she'd outgrown it. I ordered the same model in bigger size as a replacement. Very nice swim suit!
