Very clear decrease in quality,
By Swim mate "Swim mate" (Boston) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Speedo Men's Male Solid Lycra Bathing Suit (Apparel)
I am a regular swimmer and I have been buying that same reference from Speedo for several year (70800). Usually they are lasting 6 to 7 months, 3 swims a week, clear water rinsing and air dried.
Last July I bought several suits of that reference here and I immediatly noticed a change in the construction of the suit. I started to use one in September and after only 2 months the suit is falling apart. The impression at reception was confirmed. Some savings are made by Speedo in their manufacturing process but they did not warn the customer or change the item reference.

Long Lasting Product,
By
This review is from: Speedo Men's Male Solid Lycra Bathing Suit (Apparel)
I've been using Speedo products over 20 years never had to change to any other brand for swimming gear. Speedo makes it for last and it's always durable, this one I got it for almost 9 months, after every use rinse with cold water becomes like new.

A Classic - Gets the Job Done,
By Hotswimmer (Irvine, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Speedo Men's Male Solid Lycra Bathing Suit (Apparel)
I'm a U.S. Master's competitive swimmer, and I've been swimming most of my life. Over the years, I've tried racing briefs like this from just about every major manufacturer out there - Speedo, Tyr, Nike, Adidas, Arena, Dolfin, Hind, Victor, and Finals just to mention some.
This one is a timeless classic. It's comfortable and reasonably durable, and does it's job well. It comes in a great selection of colors. The only thing I don't like about it is that over the years, Speedo keeps making the sides wider and wider. It's got a lot of coverage now - a cut Jerry Falwell would love. If you like lots of coverage, that's great, but I find that as a result, these start to bag and sag on me as they loosen up, as lycra suits tend to do with use, and I swim 7 days a week... I've grown to prefer Tyr suits for their briefer, more comfortable and more flattering fit - that's just personal preference, though. Both are good brands. Also, if you swim a lot, take a look at this same suit in Speedo's polyester-blend fabric "Endurance" line, if you want one that really holds up well over the long run.

Training tank suit,
By
This review is from: Speedo Men's Male Solid Lycra Bathing Suit (Apparel)
This suit is great. All tank suits fit the same, but many have problems with the drawstring. It can fray, break, stretch or slip. This suit has none of those problems, it fits well and the drawstring stays put but is easy to untie even when wet. Great for training.

A Good Basic Speedo,
By
This review is from: Speedo Men's Male Solid Lycra Bathing Suit (Apparel)
This is the basic Speedo bathing suit - it's good quality and great for sunning, swimming and training. They come in even waist sizes and are very snug fitting so you need to order it one size bigger. I have a bubble butt and even though I have a 32" waist I needed to order a size 34" for it to fit properly. They are durable and hold up well so it's a good buy overall and I recommend it.

This is a fine quality Speedo, but I have found that the sizing is small. I would have needed to order 1 or 2 sizes bigger.

This is a standard Speedo brief; lots of lycra, no sags, and a very good cotton drawstring that stays tight during laps. I swim 1K daily, so my suits get a good workout. To make it last, remember to rinse in non-chlorinated water after each use and wring dry (don't use the centrifuge).

A Good Suit, but Look at TYR and Nike First.,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Speedo makes a good racing suit, but for any potential suit buyer, I have other recomendations: TYR and Nike make better racer's in my oppinion. The speedo suit is somewhat awkard fitting, and the three inch side-seam seems much larger. This suit is not quite as flattering as the ones by TYR and Nike. Their suits are better designed and from my experience, seem to last longer. A solid suit, but not my number one pick.

Cuts into thighs too tight and doesn't last very long,

I'm a regular swimmer (3 times / week). These look cool but cuts into the thighs. Also, after about 10 months it falls apart, even though I'm very careful about maintenance, like not stretching it too much when pulling it on and off and rinsing it throughly in fresh water after using it in a chlorinated pool.
