4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent paddle set
I've used several other paddle sets but these are the best. This design has the most intuitive 'water ergonomics' and they feel like a second set of hands to me.

Only drawback are the rubber straps that break after a few months. Poor design although Speedo includes replacement straps in the package.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too big for beginners
These were the first paddles I ever tried and they seem to be too wide for me. They are probably good for advanced swimmers but for your first pair it is better to try something smaller and perhaps contoured to your hand.

4.0 out of 5 stars An inexpensive swim aid that is worth trying!, December 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The swim paddles were reccomended to me by a friend at the Y. I wanted to develop my flabby pecks. Over a year's time I'd say they're working! My wife has noticed a difference in my body. I'm on my second pair since the clorine in the pool water weakened the original rubber straps over time. I have used other brands but this Speedo model seems to work the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for upper body training, November 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are good aids for anyone who would like to improve their upper body strength while swimming. They are fairly large; they fit my husband's big hands quite comfortably. They can also be adjusted for those with smaller hands (like mine).

A word of warning - start slowly with these. You will have sore muscles the next day, so I would not recommend them for your full set of lap swimming the first day.

I bought the paddle with strip grips but I got a one with rubber wires. Also the color was red instead of yellow. Color matters less but rubber wires are a bit annoying (just a matter of preference).

It was not a big enough deal for me to return the paddle so I kept it. But still would have preferred to receive what I ordered.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bougth a pair of swim paddles, before, and the new ones I got they didn't have the confortable wrist to finger strap, they have 2 very unconfortable straps that really hurt the wrist and the finger when you do the trainig, I wish I can find the really good straps for my new paddles.

Thanks

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised, June 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered the extra large, large and the small paddles. I was expecting it to have the straps like in the picture, it was the deciding factor between getting these and TYR catalyst. All three paddles I ordered only have tube straps. I DID NOT get what they showed in the picture. I swim for fitness and the small paddles was to be for form, the large one for some resistance training the extra large one for more resistance. The large and the extra-large is practically the same size. If you put one on top of the other, the extra-large extends less then 1/4th of an inch around the edges compared to the large. The difference between using the two will be pointless for resistance training, although I guess it can be "fine tuneing" for others. I was only going to take off one star for all that, but after inspecting all paddles, I can see stress fractures on all three sets. This is not a quality product, I got three sets and all three sets have little fractures extending from one or more holes. I am very disappointed with Speedo. The large paddle (left) and the extra-large paddle (left as well!!) top most hole is nearly completely broken from the hole to the edge. All other paddles show signs of a problem there....I can see a line from the hole to the edge. It hasn't cracked yet, but the seed is there.

Also, the extra-large isn't really that big. I foget what size my TYR one's are, but I think it was a large and it is bigger then the Speedo extra-large. I was hoping the speedo extra-large was going to be bigger and offer me another set of paddles to use for resistance. I am not returning the items because I'd rather lose the money in this then waste my time getting these items back to Amazon and although I am very disappointed with Speedo, I can still make use of the items. However, I will not be buying another speedo product if TYR offers something comparable.
