I picked up this swimsuit to train for an upcoming sprint triathlon. I must say that going from a pair of baggy surfer jammers to these made quite a difference in speed. I have only used them 5 times in the past 2 weeks, so I cannot make comment on durability, but I will update the report later on. In terms of fit, I usually wear a pair of size 32 pants (jeans or khakis) and they are usually a bit loose (so I'm more of a size 31). I bought a size 32 swimsuit and it fits just about right at the waist, but the bottom of the swimsuit just above the knees is a bit too snug. It's snug enough where I'm always fiddling with the leg openings whenever I stop swimming. I would recommend buying 1 size up from what you would normally wear in order to avoid this. Otherwise, it looks great and really made me much speedier. The suit doesn't have pockets, but has a nice liner on the inside.

    ------------ [Update 8/26/2010]
Well, I have lost about 10 lb since I started using this suit and my waist size is now about a 30 (5'6", 138lb, 30" inseam, small frame, swimmer's build). I'm still doing triathlons (that includes biking and running) so I don't think my thigh size has decreased. I can say that even after 5 months of use (about 2x/wk) it's still really snug at the leg openings. Just to check it out, I bought a size 34 and the leg openings are no longer a problem. The suit does not have that compression/skin tight feel to it, but it's not baggy either. If you are a competitive swimmer, I would suggest keeping things snug/skin tight. Casual swimmer or just for training, the looser fit is nice. Also of note is that the length of the leg is a bit longer with the bigger size. Crotch to end of leg is about 9.5" based on my measurement.

Upon the advice of the other reviewers, I bought this swimsuit 2 sizes too large. My waist is 31, but normally I get away with size 30 when buying shorts and pants. I ended up purchasing the 34" suit. It fit perfectly.

A good thing about this suit is that it is tight around the bottom of the legs. You won't ever have to worry about the suit being loose and slipping up your leg. It stays tight and very streamline.

The suit gives you a generous amount of string around the waist, so you can tie it very securely.

Like most Jammer suits, it has no pockets... So be prepared for that.

I have swam in this suit nearly everyday for about 6 months now, and it has not deteriorated at all.

For swim workouts, Speedo Jammers are the way to go, especially if you don't have the body of an Olympic swimmer. They are comfortable and look way better than the bikini brief or square cut Speedos, both of which I have. Also, it may be a placebo effect but I actually felt that my performance increased in these shorts. The fabric of the Sonic Splice is nicer than that of the Rapid Splice so pay the extra $6 and get these. I bought them both and sent back the Rapid Spice because the quality isn't as good. I bought a size 34 and the fit is perfect. I'm 5'9" and 169 pounds and wear most things in a size 36 but I wouldn't want this swimsuit any bigger so I'm glad I went with the smaller size. They come down about 3" short of my knees. They also have a very long drawstring on the inside. My buddy who swore he'd never wear a Speedo bought a pair of these for training and loves them. I've only been using them once a week for a couple months so I can't attest to their long-term durability but so far they still look like new.

I got this suit about a year ago. I swam about an hour per day 4 times a week for a year. The suit butt seam ripped out a couple days ago, leaving me with a 3 inch whole to leave the pool with. I did buy one size larger as reviews suggested but towards the end of the year the waist was a little loose. So I will try normal size next time but my thighs are not big.

I have been using these Speedo swimsuits for almost a year and, for the most part, I have been fairly happy with the quality. I swim 4-5 times a week anywhere from 70-90 laps in either a fresh water pool or a regular chlorine pool at the fitness center. Three pairs of these suits have held up well for a year, till they gradually started shredding at the seams only recently. Given the extensive use, I have absolutely no problem with the wear, glad they lasted a year.

As other folks have mentioned, you definitely want to order a size up. I am a 31 waist and ordered a 34, perfect fit around the waist and above the knee. Thank you to the previous reviewers for this tip. The stitching is of good quality in that it doesn't dig into the skin. It's comfortable to wear and looks decent. I spin it dry after each use and also make sure to throw it in the wash after each wear, and then hang dry. Do not put these in the dryer because that will cause the fabric to shred after a few washes.

The reason I give this 4 stars is because the material is not exactly top quality. I mean it feels somewhat like a compression short, but then not really. The fabric is just a tad thick to be good quality jammer material. As a result, the fit around the crotch area is not a hundred percent perfect, it bunches up just a little bit to require adjusting each time you stop in the middle of laps, or get out of the pool. It's just a little loose, and this is not because of the fit but because of the material.

I thought of trying something different this time and ordered TYR Men's Starship Jammer Swim Suit.
