This is great, we were able to fix our leather shoes. It can save you a lot of money.

However, this kit comes with 2 needles, the #8 "big" needle in strait and curved. We quickly fixed the larger threading at the base of the shoes, but soon realized that we needed the thinner #4 needle (and thinner thread) for other parts of the shoes. We had to order just the #4 needle separate (hint: if you are in this situation, it is MUCH cheaper to get the one needle via an online auction service you may have heard of....). Some kits come with all 3 needles, I would suggest just paying a little more and getting that.

As for the thread, you need waxed thread. I bought black waxed thread separately, in thick and thin. The thick light-tan tread that came with the speedy stitcher would not have worked on our black and brown shoes.

Hope this helps!

In an age where everything is disposable, this is a priceless tool to have around for uncountable fixing jobs. And its impeccable quality only seals the deal...

Update:
I just added the instructions guide sheet to the customer images for a more detailed idea on how this item is actually used... Hope this helps :-)

This thing has been around for a million years and no one can improve on a perfect tool like this. It works to perfection but take your time to learn how it works when you first get it. Remember that this needle is super sharp so take it slow until you are comfortable with it. The super sharp needle will go through heavy leather easily so watch your hands/fingers when you first use it. Once you become proficient with it you will always have it around for all those things that need to be fixed.

To get extra needles, bobbins and waxed thread, go on line to speedy stitcher. Click on products. Go to the bottom of the page where you can click on a website to buy extra items.
Amazon will not let me give you the website directly.

I got some extra needles and stuff but it took two weeks to get it. Whoever is running this little business must be doing it out of their garage or something. They don't seem to be very organized but you will get your stuff. I got one e-mail saying that the item was shipped and then again a week later I got another e-mail saying it was shipped. ??? The right hand didn't seem to know what the left hand was doing.

I love the outdoors and I've found 100 ways to use this product. I have used it to repair my backpack, stitch a camp chair and even to fix the windows on my Jeep. It is incredibly easy to work the tough was thread through thick material. The thread is tough and will hold for a permanent repair. You will able to fix countless items with this tool that might otherwise be thrown away.

I bought one of these for making a custom shoulder holster / baldric from the leather Tandy company. Was cheap balsa wood. This one is 100 times sturdier, works much easier and the instructions with this one is so much easier then the idiotic instructions from the Tandy leather version. Save time and buy this one, It's sturdy, easy to use once you get the hand of it, the instructions make sense, and its even made in the USA.

This is a quality product (and made in the USA, no less). No comparison to the cheaper import models. Very stout construction.

I bought this for stitching up some leather slippers - works perfectly, glad to see that it was made about 2 hours away from NYC! Well done. Solid tool that comes with a lot of waxed thread tough enough to do anything.
