The instant that I bought this comb on Amazon my heart sank. What was I thinking to pay $9.00 for a... Pocket comb? Not only one, but for two of them (plus shipping). I rationalized this purchase because I lost my old Ace hard rubber pocket comb that I carried for over twenty five years. Ace no longer makes the high quality hard rubber combs that last forever. They are now all made in China out of cheap plastic. Why? Is the management at Ace insane? I even looked on eBay. The vintage Ace pocket combs were selling for $25.00, plus shipping. Really. Not joking.

Oh well, what was done was done. I received my Speert, Swiss, hand-made, tortoise shell pocket combs in a few short days. I was quite amazed at the look and feel of these combs. Smooth and sculptured. They effortlessly glided through my hair. Pure quality, and it showed.

I have not had these combs long. Will they last 25 years like my old Ace comb did? Probably not. Is it unbreakable like my old Ace (I'm not about to try to break a $9.00 comb)? Only time will tell. But as of this moment, I am very impressed and satisfied with my purchase.

For many, a fifty cent Chinese made comb with scratchy needle teeth will do the trick. For these people this comb would be a big waste of money.

Update: Although beautiful, these are not lifetime combs (like the old Ace hard rubber combs). Both of these combs started bending and losing teeth recently and had to be discarded. Thus, I had to lower my rating to only two stars. Not only that, but Speert jacked up the price to $12.00 each (from $9.00 two years ago). Bottom line. These combs do not pass the test of time (only 2 1/2 years for me). Buy only if you like flushing money down the toilet

If you're one of the people who think of high quality, simple items in terms of "it's only", then this is not for you. A used Chevy II is a car, but it's not a Corvette. A snapshot of a tree is a nature picture, but it's not an Ansel Adams. If you are now shaking your head "yes" then no other hair comb will give you as much pleasure. If you are saying "huh?", then this is a waste of your money. You decide.

There were no sizes accompanying the pictures. Because I paid a little more, I thought I was getting a larger comb. Not so.
