5.0 out of 5 stars So very happy with the Wizard!
Well, I had seen this item on craft shows before and was impressed, but after reading the two negative reviews here I wasn't 100% sure. I took the risk and am so happy I did. This machine is really amazing! I want to comment on a few of the main complaints listed by other reviewers. First, the machine is under a LOT of pressure, so it does "spit out"... but you are...

5.0 out of 5 stars So very happy with the Wizard!, May 15, 2010

Well, I had seen this item on craft shows before and was impressed, but after reading the two negative reviews here I wasn't 100% sure. I took the risk and am so happy I did. This machine is really amazing! I want to comment on a few of the main complaints listed by other reviewers. First, the machine is under a LOT of pressure, so it does "spit out"... but you are told that numerous times in the instructional dvd... so just pay attention and hold on and be ready... problem solved! I don't have a problem with the machine "jumping" around (I thinking of jumping.. as in up and down), my machine slides back a little with the force of the plates coming out, but it don't bother me at all, honestly, I don't really notice it. Also, as with anything new, just practice loading the sandwiches a few times and you will become a pro. I had trouble the first couple of times... but no more.. so easy, fun... and amazingly versatile! I cannot believe how many different dies will work in this machine: sizzix, sizzlits, (I own a Original Sizzix machine too), cuttlebug, fiskars embossing plates, any brass stencil, quickutz, and so many more. Guess what that means? You can buy ANY that are on sale and they will work with this machine. Uh-oh... only problem I can foresee is my spending way too much on all the awesome dies that are out there! Of course the dies made by Spellbinders are amazing in themselves! I already had a couple (and used them with my Sizzix machine, but it wasn't as easy as with the Wizard) and have had so much fun cutting, embossing and stenciling with them! I have tried using my brass stencils with the Wizard as well and it was easy, straight forward (just watch the dvd for instructions) and the results were fantastic! Give the Wizard a try and prepare to be amazed!

This little guy is expensive but worth its weight in gold if you are an embosser of any type. Also great for charms etc. I love it. Thanks to Amazon for offering it at such a great price.

I was a little skeptical after reading some reviews of this die cutting system but if you can't figure out how to use it then its NOT the product. Its super simple to use and makes crisp cuts and clean, detailed embossing. I love it and have begun to collect dies and accessories for it with excitement about what I can do with it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the Money!, June 4, 2009
This review is from: Spellbinders W-001 The Wizard Embossing and Die-Cutting System (Kitchen)
I was so excited when I saw this on the homeshopping network and ordered it right away. However, I am very dissapointed in it. I am not one to do reviews but this machine was very difficult. Loading the "sandwich" into the machine was way too difficult. It took many trys to get the boards to load. Then when the "sandwich" would exit the machine it spits them out at you and the whole machine jumps. If you stand in front of it and your not careful, it will hit your stomach because it doesn't suction to the table at all. As for the embossing, it does do a good job, but I just think there are better machines out there for your money. Maybe my machine was a lemon and I hope other people don't have this problem, but I personally would not recommend it.

I already had an embossing machine so I was looking for the cutting machine mostly. I chose the Spellbinder Wizard W-00l after I watched the video of all the cutting machines. I liked how much pressure there was to also be able to do my brass stencils. That is what drove me to pick this one. I am very happy with how it works. You DO have to watch the video that comes with it to get the benefit of it. It does crank pretty hard when you have thicker things in it. Also, be ready to catch the pads when they come out. Lots of force!!!!
For what I was looking for, this machine does a great job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wizard is awesome!, September 1, 2010
This review is from: Spellbinders W-001 The Wizard Embossing and Die-Cutting System (Kitchen)
I purchased the Wizard with the bag from HSN 2 weeks ago. At first I didn't know if I wanted it because of a couple of negative reviews. I decided there were enough positive reviews for me to go ahead and purchase it and am I happy that I did. This is one awesome machine! It took me a few tries to get the hang of it. The video from [...] I watched had much better instructions than what came with the Wizard. You have to hold on tight to the plates as they are coming out of the Wizard because it jumps. Watch the video and you will be a pro after following the instructions! I love the Wizard and I'm very happy with it! Buy it!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Wizard - diecutting with a workout, December 6, 2010
This review is from: Spellbinders W-001 The Wizard Embossing and Die-Cutting System (Kitchen)
I've tried and tried to use my Wizard. No luck. It is a major wrestling feat to get the die to start. YES, I FOLLOWED THE INSTUCTIONS, tried all kinds of suggestions and tricks, and still had problems. Once I did get a die started, I needed to hold the machine in place as I racheted (sp?) the die through. Often, the die would spit out the back as it slid trying to go forward. I give up. After months of attempts to use this machine, I called customer service. Basically, she read the instructions to me, which I had already explained that I read the manual and watched the DVD several times.
She assured me this was a much loved machine and I was just a whiner. AND, for a lot more money, I could buy one of their really easy to use new designs called the "Caliper" or something like that as the Wizard has been discontinuted. The new, slightly more expensive ...
oh never mind.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wizard Cutting & Embossing Machine, April 14, 2010

This review is from: Spellbinders W-001 The Wizard Embossing and Die-Cutting System (Kitchen)
I was excited when I first watched the videos showing how easy the Wizard Machine was to use. I had purchased many, many, brass stencils and this is the only machine that I found I could use them for embossing vs the light. I was very excited. I would NOT purchase this machine if I had to do it over. It looks easy to use when you watch the video that comes with the machines, IT ISN"T. It is very frustrating, and most of the time a real pain to use. I ended up buying the Cuttlebug even though I can't use it with my stencils. I wasted $71.00.

Hope that soon Cuttlebug will come out with a machine that I can use the stencils I have.
