5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbound
This was the first Christopher Pike book I ever read, and it spawned an addiction (or obsession depending on how you look at it!) It filled me with both fear and surprise. I found it intruiging, and powerful. It filled the void in my reading, as I had been looking for a long time for something, and didn't know what, this was it. The creativity of the "beast"...

1.0 out of 5 stars The Worst Christopher Pike book ever
I can't believe it... I've found a Christopher Pike I can't stand. This book is really crappy and far fetched. At the end of the book, a girl's soul gets trapped in a parrot. Give me a break. I don't like the Christopher Pike books that envolve the supernatural and science fictiion, I like the stories such as Chain Letter and Weekend. Spellbound is definitely...

The creativity of the "beast" in this book was exceptional, and it was a different, and more powerful writing style that I had ever found before. Pike's style is wonderful and captavating, and I love each and every one of his works. The setting is perfect, and the story is magical, it left me with chills. I couldn't put the book down! I recommend this book to everyone, get to know one of the greatest writers of the 20th century!

I am 23 years old. I read this book when I was a teenager and I still remember it as one of the best books I have ever read. Christopher Pike has a wonderful imagination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very stylish and entertaining for the young adult level., August 10, 1999

Several years ago, I had the pleasure of reading Pike's Spellbound. I found it to be a very stimulating text. It is one of those novel that remain in the back of your mind, and bring a flood of satifaction with each reoccurring remembrance. Perhaps the best part, which creats the good memories, is the absence of reality when discussing the mystical powers of a particular character. It reminds me of when you play "what-if." I know some of you can relate, especially when "what-if" goes too far and becomes unrealistic. Although, in Spellbound it does not; the plot is suspenceful, and fast-paced near the ending, and remains realisic in that "what-if" type manner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Christopher Pike's books are not just for teenagers!, July 1, 2006
This review is from: Spellbound (Mass Market Paperback)
While on vacation, I picked this one up. This is one of his older titles, and I have always wanted to read it.

Karen Holly was killed in the woods of Timber, Wyoming. Her boyfriend at the time (Jason) swears it was a bear, but the town and the local authorities are not completely sure. Could he have killed his own girlfriend?

His new girlfriend, Cindy is taken aback by the gruesome details in the morning's paper, on just how Karen died. She starts to suspect Jason as well, but not before she finds herself attracted to the new exchange student Bala. He is from Africa, and his grandfather is said to be a famous shaman. (magician)

Joni Harper is also new to the school, from England. She is quiet and kind, and Alex, who is Cindy's brother, has fallen in love with her. Is it just Alex's imagination, or are Bala and Joni connected in some way? They come from two different parts of the world, but they seem to know each other somehow.

All of these friends will have a chance to find out what happened to Karen Holly. But, not without some horrible things happening to them.

I have always been drawn to this author's books for the fact that he writes a great story and throws in a bit of magic and the unknown. Though Remember Me, Slumber Party, and the Midnight Club are my favorites, this one was very entertaining as well. You do start to figure out what's going to happen about halfway through, but it doesn't ruin anything for you. Also, it made me go out and get two more from the library.

I may be only a 12 girl, but i am practically obsessed with Pike's collection of books. I just read this book yesterday, and i absolutley loved it! It was amazing, like all his books. I hope there is a second one....... but then again, thats how I feel about all his books! I encourage everyone to read this book! Pike is an awesome writer and deserves to be recognized as such.

I loved this book. It had all there is to have. By this, i mean romance, sci-fi, supernatural, drama. . . A story of love, of survival, and a story that shows you something new each time you read it. A classic pike book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very different for Pike's taste., October 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spellbound (Mass Market Paperback)
Spellbound was a very different book to read my Mr. Pike, if you've read enough of his works to see how he usually goes. This involved the supernatural, and the plot is just a tad far-fetched. Although, I must say it was kind of complicated. The length is average, a bit more than 200 pages, and you'll really appreciate it if you sit and read his other works of fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christopher Pike, a true page turner, July 21, 1999
This review is from: Spellbound (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first work of Christopher Pike that I read. It turned me into a true fan and kept me coming back and waiting for more. This book has everything, from well developed characters, and plot line to suspense and surprise. Anyone who has read any of his other later works, will surely enjoy this earlier one. For all his books are wonderful and will keep you turning the pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbound is an immaculately composed novel!!, January 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spellbound (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was created by one of many great authors. Christopher Pike is his name, and spectacular novels are his game. I have read numerous novels by this author, and this book is by far one of the best. Spellbound will glue you to your seat, while taking you on an adventurous thrill-ride! The suspense this book contains is enough to not only knock your socks off, but spin your head around with fantastic detail. During the period of time that I read this book, with it's incredible detail, I kept visualizing everything happening. First "this", and then "that," and then... "WHOA! Where'd that come from?" And if you've guessed that I'm strongly recommending this book, you've guessed absolutely right! Like I said before, this is an immaculately composed novel! In my opinion, I guess you could say this book sort of has a mind of it's own... =)
