Book Description

One was from another world and the other from another time…

In a failed attempt to turn him into an ageless lover, the evil, not-quite-a-vampire Lamia DuLaine poisoned hunky Druid high priest Julian Talbot on his wedding day. The Seelie Fae transported Julian to their realm for treatment and captured DuLaine, but not before she brutally murdered his new wife, Maxine.
Now, nearly two centuries later, the Fae have revived Julian from his coma and returned him to his ancestral estate, where he finds his bride’s many-times-great- grandniece and namesake, Maxie Reigate—who could be his beloved dead wife’s twin. Also there is Breslyn, Royal Fae Prince of Dagda. Because he’d honored the Treaty prohibiting Fae interference in the human world, Breslyn hadn’t been able to prevent Maxine’s death. This time, however, he will do whatever it takes to protect Maxie, rules be damned. It’s not just guilt that motivates him—the sexy immortal has long admired humans, and he is especially taken with this human woman.
While she might look like her ancestor, this Maxine is a modern, spirited woman with emerging Druid powers of her own—and she will not be a stand-in for a long-dead love or a temporary playmate for an immortal prince. And yet, she can’t help but be attracted to these two very different and absolutely mesmerizing males.
Together, the three of them must work to combat treachery from the highest levels of the Seelie Fae Realm, for one of the Seelie queen’s closest confidantes is plotting to unleash Dark and monstrous Unseelie Fae on an unsuspecting human world. If that weren’t trouble enough, Lamia DuLaine has been released from her Otherworld prison, and her obsession with Julian and hatred for the Reigate family are as strong as ever. But now she has even more Dark Magic knowledge at her disposal.

and an excerpt:
was something in his expression that made Maxie realize the Prince wanted to taunt Julian. Oh yes, she thought, these two had some sort of history.
“It won’t take money…it will take…”
Julian interrupted harshly, “Me. It will take me, Breslyn, make no mistake.”
Breslyn shrugged, “One can only hope this time, you will use some caution.”
“This time I will use everything it takes.” Julian snapped.
The Prince chose to ignore him and took Maxie’s glass of wine from her without lifting his silver eyes away from hers. He sipped from her glass and when he gave it back to her, he made sure she had it in place so that her lips would touch where his lips had been. It was bold, and it was infinitely sexy. Maxie didn’t ordinarily allow guys to get away with stuff like that, but she thought as she bit her bottom lip, these were not ordinary circumstances, and Breslyn was no ordinary guy!
Flirting was good—she excused herself. Flirting was fun. When did a girl ever get to flirt with a Fae Prince and have a hunk looking on? She downed her glass of wine.

Editorial reviews: This is one book I'll never forget. The author has done a magnificent job of creating the world of the Tuatha De Danaan, the Druids and the humans who interact with them. She succeeds in making them so realistic, I found myself believing they really exist – and who knows, perhaps they do. Prince Breslyn is a magnificent hero, one to excite any female reader. But then, Julian MacTalbot is just as heroic. The author has given him very real fears and doubts, along with a background that becomes very real to the reader. This reader had a difficult time making her mind up between the Prince and Julian MacTalbot.
Maxie is an absolutely wonderful character. The author has given her spunk, wit, and the ability to work through the most difficult situations imaginable. Her interactions with the Prince and Julian MacTalbot are realistic, her doubts and fears exactly as one would expect under the circumstances.
The setting descriptions, along with the emotions depicted are wonderful. The author pulled this reader right into the scenes with

5.0 out of 5 stars Smokin' Hot! January 16, 2011
Spellbound - Legend is Smokin' HOT!
After a nine year hiatus [we won't call it retirement,] Claudy Conn returns to the world of romance fiction writing with Spellbound - Legend. You might remember the author as Claudette Williams and think of her regency and historical romances. Claudy wrote over 40 mass market bestsellers in that field using the pen names Claudette Williams and Melanie Davis for Fawcett, Zebra and Doubleday book club. Claudy Conn is back and writing with a vengeance to bring us her first paranormal romance.
Make no mistake this is top notch romance writing and Claudy embraces the paranormal aspects of her story with obvious enjoyment and ease. Paranormal and fantasy fictions are my absolute favorite reads and she has made the switch seem effortless. She has nailed the genre as if she was born to write it. No disrespect intended toward the historical and regency set . . . I cut my reading chops on those romances.
Spellbound - Legend is a masterfully written tale that pits a contemporary young woman against ancient forces. Maxie Reigate descends from a long line of Druid priests and priestesses. She's always been aware of the family legend but what she doesn't know is that her fate is tied into the world of the Tuatha Dé, the fairy people, also known as the Fae, who are at the heart of Irish Myth and folklore. The wall of power, set up to separate the world of man from the Fae, is in danger of collapse; there is a blood sucking, evil and ancient beauty that wants her dead; the hero of her family's legend, Julian, the High Druid Priest is about to wake up after a two hundred year coma and walk into her life; and then there is a Fae Prince who wants to protect and keep her for his own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbound--Legend A Joyfully Recommended Title!!! March 9, 2011
By M. Nix
Maxie Reigate has heard the legends and stories of the dark tale of death and mayhem that happened to an ancestor and her husband. It was a case of jealously taken to another level. Heck, Maxie would even admit privately to a crush on the man in a painting her father had, supposedly the man in this legend. However, Maxie just could not believe the magical aspect of this story no matter how much her father tried to impress it upon her. Magic and druids just were not real to Maxie. That is until she experienced first hand that not only was magic and the Druids alive, but she was to become a powerful Druid Priestess.

Suddenly Maxie not only believes in magic but she knows now the legend is true and still in motion. Beyond that, a sexy Fae Prince, Breslyn of Dagda and the hot man she had dreamed about, Druid Julian Talbot now surround Maxie making it hard to concentrate with all the pheromones flying around. All three discover that the danger is far worse then they imagined and on more than one level. Maxie is on a fast track to learn about her inner magic because it's going to take all of them to stop the danger, and save the wall that separates Fae from man. Like that isn't enough to deal with, Maxie also has to figure out what her heart is telling her about Breslyn and Julian. Julian, Maxie and Breslyn are determined the past will not be repeated. The question is--who will have the most power when it counts?

A life-changing journey brings danger, awakening, and more importantly, passion in Spellbound - Legend. I'll say right off the top that this is one hot and thrilling book. I fell for all three of the main characters, fun loving Maxie, dark and brooding Julian, and one hot Fae, Breslyn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read... December 28, 2010

The combination of characters really make this a success... you really hate the villain, you love the strong hero and herion... the human charachters are fun, funny... love them! the fae characters are wise, old world and intersting... I love how the world of fae mix with ours and how the story unfolds... great read... highly recommend. I am new to amazon, so I will say this is my first review... I normally, for fiction, read Stephen King, Melissa Marr, John Grisham... I have a varried taste I guess, but I like this author very much too. Happy Reading...

4.0 out of 5 stars Intricate and Intriguing March 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is my second read by Claudy Conn. I started by reading the prequel to the Legend series and was intrigued enough to buy this book as well. I was not disappointed. I loved the world of the Seelie Fae, and their beautiful faeries. I liked being drawn into the mythical world of magick and Druid priests. The intricacy of the plot kept me interested, although at times I felt the pace moved a little slowly.

I felt that this book had two heroes: Breslyn and Julian, two sides of a crazy love triangle. Breslyn is all sex and masculinity. He's very aggressive, but in a way that makes a girl want to fall at his feet in a puddle. Julian is dark and broody, and has looks to match. I liked these two men, even as different as their personalities were. The author did such a good job writing them, that I would have been happy had the heroine chose either of them!

Maxie, on the other hand struck me as kind of fickle. I mean, whichever man was in the room with her at the moment was the one she wanted. She was like a salivating schoolgirl, and of course was jealous when one of the heroes paid attention to the another woman. It aggravated me how she played one against the other, and even though she knew she was being childish at times, she continued acting in the same way. After awhile though, she grew on me and I started to like her. Without giving anything away I'd definitely say that the man she chose brought out the best in her.

The ending left things open for the next book in the series, which I look forward to reading very soon! I'll be interested to see what happens to the hero that was let hanging by the closing off of this triangle.

More About the Author

Some may know Claudy Conn as Claudette Williams/Melanie Davis, two names she used when publishing her regency and historical romances, with Random House, Zebra and Doubleday.

Now as an Indie author, she has the freedom to step out of the formula and go with her characters wherever they take her.

We asked what does she do when she isn't writing and she tells us, she and her husband love hiking, swimming, traveling and playing with their variety of animals--wolf Cherokee and her now overgrown hybrid pup, Rocky the Man, included.

Her favorite things she says are, chocolate, fries and pizza.
She loves to hear from her fans, so visit her at:
