Spellbound (Aka Passing Clouds) 1940 NR

(2) IMDb 6.4/10

Spiritualism, demonic possession and apparitions are all featured in this extremely well done British horror film. Farr is tops as a man whose sanity is saved when a spiritualist materializes his dead fiancee. This atmospheric chiller is complemented by a fine, literate script and solid performances. A real forgotten gem.

The trouble with this film is that the copy available online is virtually unwatchable. The crackling, hissing noise on the soundtrack is so intrusive and aggravating that one can only stand it for a few minutes at a time. A copy this poor should never have been placed online for purchase, and to not even mention the bad sound quality in the description is deceptive.
