With this baby, I really did enjoy the story...and the plot line...and the hero and heroine. And let's not forget all the other wonderful 'peoples'. The sex is great. But I just found something missing...I don't know what. (Scratchin' me noggin in confusion!! Wink!!) But I wouldn't want you to NOT buy this book just because I said that. Try it!! It is certainly different, wonderful concept (I love centaurs) and a beaut leading couple and sub characters. It ISN'T bad at all.

More than two decades ago, the pony-man saved her from drowning to death. Although a child, Montana Freeborn intuitively knew the importance of keeping his existence a secret. Now the pony-man has returned, although he isn't exactly a pony-man anymore, with only two legs now.
Half-human and half-centaur, Seth Phoenix has always been fascinated by mortals - a fact that has caused him trouble several times before, and has now resulted in banishment from his realm to the live amongst the humans, in human form. When Montana's horse accidentally tramples him, she tends his injuries and shelters him in her own home. Little does Seth know that both his future and the fate of his mother lie with Montana Freeborn... Spells Cast In Shadows is the first book by Gracie C. McKeever I had the good fortune to read, and it will not be the last! With its powerful characters and an intense plot, it is easy to see why this book was the October Top Seller for Siren Publishing. Montana Freeborn is a beautiful heroine, inside and out. Her giving nature is evident in the way she treats others, the summer program she hosts for underprivileged children, and the way she views the world in general. Unfortunately, it is the innocent trust she places in those around her that makes her easy prey for the villain of the piece. Conversely, it is this same trust that allows her romance with Seth to progress at such a rapid pace. Seth Phoenix is a compelling hero, fierce and territorial as one would expect a centaur to be - especially one who is a member of the royal family. Of course, his noble nature, while admirable, also serves as a roadblock to his romance with Montana as he struggles to deny his feelings in order to protect her. I can wholeheartedly recommend Spells Cast In Shadows to any readers who love a good erotic fantasy with a beautiful romance and a suspenseful plot promising several twists! Connected Stories: Beneath the Surface: The Matchmaker, Book 1 Terms of Surrender: The Matchmaker 2 Manifest Destiny [The Matchmaker 3] (Siren Publishing) (This book is not part of The Matchmaker series, but contains crossover characters from 'Manifest Destiny'. While 'Manifest Destiny' can be easily comprehended and enjoyed without reading 'Spells Cast in Shadows', the story in 'Manifest Destiny' will be greatly enhanced by reading 'Spells Cast in Shadows' first.)

Gracie C. McKeever's paranormal romance, Spells Cast in Shadows captures the love found between a human, Montana Freeborn, and a Centaur exhile from the world Sapphira, Seth Phoenix. After being cast into the Human World, Seth discoveres that the Black Elf placed an interference spell between him and his love, Montana. Throughout the book, McKeever does a wonderful job expressing the strength and intensity of the love and emotions between Seth and Montana. The way thier love is exemplified captivates the reader and makes you realize that there are such things as 'soul mates' and 'destiny'.

Love In The Midst Of Chaos,

Montana Freeborn owes her existence to what many would call a simple figment of her imagination: as a child, helplessly drowning in the middle of an expansive lake, she is rescued by the centaur Seth - a mythical half-man, half-horse creature - who selflessly endangers his own life in order to save hers. The only thing he asks in return: that Montana never tell anyone about him, a condition to which she reluctantly agrees.
As fate would have it, two decades later the centaur re-emerges into her life, only this time around it is she who does the saving. Suddenly banished from his own world, her erstwhile hero must rely on her sympathy and compassion in order to heal from the damage - both physical and psychological - that has been done to him by his own people. What Seth doesn't count on, though, is falling completely in love with Montana, quickly developing a burning passion for her that she gladly returns in kind. In the midst of their burgeoning love affair, unbeknownst to the two heroes malicious forces align to spell their ultimate doom. Bound together by their mutual affection, Montana and Seth are forced to rely on one another in order to protect themselves - and each other - from the evil intentions of their detractors: Montana's a scorned figure from her past hell-bent on cold-blooded revenge; Seth's a demented, power-hungry demon with the illest inclinations towards his family. As their collective tale unfolds, neither Montana nor Seth can envision the final outcome, but the fighting spirit within each of them refuses to go quietly. Gracie McKeever delivers yet again with Spells Cast In Shadows. Once again, the prolific storyteller creates an imaginative world of awesome spiritual wonder, set against the backdrop of a compelling tale of love and desire. As always, McKeever's strength lies in the uniqueness of her characters, which, for a world of centaurs, elves, and other mystical creatures, can be quite a challenge. McKeever, though, not only manages to breathe realistic life into the supporting cast, but she does so with what has become her trademark original touch, enriching the overall story with creative flare. Of course, fans of a good love scene will never be disappointed in McKeever's prowess with the "pulsating pen." Her ability to spark unbridled, though tasteful, arousal through the frequent flesh battles of her characters is quite simply erotica at its finest. As with all her other works, Spells Cast In Shadows will only increase Gracie McKeever's growing legion of devoted readers. Her signature literary style continues to improve and is never a letdown.

Different sort of read for me. But it kept my interest until the end, so I would recommend it to others.
