This is the best book I've seen on the problems people have with the use of money. The author points out all the psychological issues associated with problem spending, overspending, or even of depriving yourself. You can learn more about yourself and why you spend the way you do as well as ways to solve the problems.
As is true with most problems, awareness is always the first step. So, if you think you don't have a problem and yet you don't know where your money goes or you spend to feel good or to achieve status, or deprive yourself of the pleasure of spending your own money, think again. It's not about judging yourself as bad but about empowering yourself to change your behavior, gain self knowledge and find meaning in your life. This is a welcome perspective on a pervasive problem.

This book has been very helpful to understand what, when and why I spend like I do. It's a very objective tool to help you in personal growth. It's not boring or dry or completely out of sync with reality as some of the other "self help" financial books I've tried. I highly recommend it. This was money well "Spent!"

Dr. Sally Palaian has written a much-needed book about people's personal relationship with money - and the timing couldn't be better. As thousands of people struggle with the consequences of the economic downturn of 2008, this book offers hope and guidance for getting clear about your money issues. There are useful exercises here for individuals and couples who struggle with compulsive spending; hiding purchases; inability to control debt and lack of planning for the future. I especially like the numerous clear examples and exercises that allow anyone to apply this information to their unique situation.

This is a wonderful book detailing psychological issues involving money and how to deal with them. Out of all of the financial books that I have read, this has been the most insightful and helpful. I have stopped stressing so much over money. This is a great book and I highly recommend it.

I read this book and found answers and understanding for my money questions and worries. I've read many books on dealing with money problems and this one stands out. Dr. Palaian teaches the reader to analyze and understand their money styles and the styles of those they love. She accurately describes the challenges and heartbreak of dealing with a loved one's money troubles. Dr. Palaian gives concrete suggestions to help yourself. She includes a workbook that helps you keep moving through this difficult process. So many people in our society are struggling with their financial life. Money troubles cause shame, fear, confusion and interpersonal conflicts that sometime lead to domestic violence and divorce. This compassionate book will lead you through a healing journey to understanding yourself and moving towards a life of prosperity. I recommend this book highly. If you are having trouble managing money in your life I urge you to get this wise and kind book.
