4.0 out of 5 stars A set to be discovered!!!!, August 9, 2010
This review is from: Sphere Of Influence (Audio CD)
For many, the name of Noel Sanger won't evoke anything in the world of electronic music but be aware that this DJ enjoys a great reputation, especially nigh great names in the trance scene such as Tiësto, BT and Markus Schulz to name a few.
American DJ, Noel Sanger comes back, six years after his last compilation, Summerbreeze Vol 2, to offer us a multi-faceted musical mix and a quality that few DJs can boast producing, currently.
It should be noted that he has been selected by Tiësto to accompany him for nearly two years during his North American tour, which is far from insignificant.
I found this album quite by chance and while didn't know this DJ at all, I let myself be influenced by the name of the album, "Sphere Of Influence" and especially by the cover more than by the tracklist.
Indeed, only the names of Kenneth Thomas, Thomas Penton and Tritonal were familiar to me and I was right because this compilation is really made in a very good level and will delight all true lovers of electronic music, without any doubt, whatever is their favorite music style.
Noel Sanger is best known for releasing very progressive sets in a house register but what he succesfully done in this album is a wonderful blend of house, techno and trance sounds in a perfect harmony.

The DJ starts his set with one of his tracks, "Hemisphere" intro version which is found later in a variant devastating Main Mix, then with "Glazier Way" by Mark Attalla & Christopher Noman.
We therefore start in a quiet prog-house register which allows the DJ to lay the foundatations and express himself to issue a set where there is absolutely nothing wrong, technically.
Follows "Breathe In", a techno track signed D:Fuse where we immediatly recognize the DJ's style with a very steep sound and a great bass line that should not leave you unmoved as well as "Coffee Machine" by Human8.
What comes next is quite remarkable with "Tentatto" by Santiago Nino, a very dark-house, nay near tech-trance track and the huge remix of "Unemployed Lover" by Jackson Wyld which touched me in a force you would not ever imagine. Don't bother to seek this remix in the various existing musical sites, you won't find it. It's a pity while this version excludes any vocales from the original and develops a growing energy to blow any dancefloor!!!
After this pure madness, Noel Sanger enchains with "Leap Of Faith" by Ryan Crane and "Riders On The Stormand" by Kenneth Thomas which will mark the transition back to more trancyl sounds.
The American again offers us his "Hemisphere" Main Mix version which is very beautiful to me and "Awaken" by Fr/Action which appears as the only vocal track of the set while generating an intoxicant aura that lets you be easily blown away.
The end of the set bathers in an exclusively Trance universe with "Like You Mean It" by Stripwalker vs Thomas Penton & Tyler C and the sumptuous "Sephoria" by Tritonal concludes the set in an apotheosis!!!

This is therefore an excellent suprise and discovery for me and I hope that this comment will tempt you to be interested in this DJ, certainly too much unknown by the general public but whom has a remarkable quality of mixing that recalls me some Herman Cattaneo officiating in the same kind of register.
