5.0 out of 5 stars Otherworld, in Four Dimensions, Delerium.
The second "mid range" Delerium almbum, Spheres 2 follows after its predescor in creating a "space" sound. Its very lush music, with many deeb ambient synth work - the stand outs being "Dimensional Space" and "Otheworld." Lots of obscure sci-fi quotes, create a feeling of traveling, sometimes of being lost in spaces. Best...

1.0 out of 5 stars moNOtoNOus!
A no no CD...
After the first track you feel you are wasting time with your ears/years. Bill Leeb & Rhys Fulber were still trying to discover themselves with their earlier works here - a well excused understanding. Being your fan you guys are forgiven. If you find this album at [Amazon.com] which says this CD is currently not availible consider it a wise move on...

Best tracks in my opinion are the setup track "Morphology", the synthy "Dimensional Spaces" which makes you feel like you're discovering uncharted territory, the upbeat "Hypoxia" which seems to cap of some "drama in space" series, and "In Four Dimensions" because of the cool changes that take place in the tone of the song. HIGHLY recomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Delerium, March 3, 2002
By
This review is from: Spheres II (Audio CD)
I wasn't particularly wild about "Spheres" but I was awfully curious to hear "Spheres vol.2". The songs on "Spheres" didn't strike a chord with me like on their more recent albums from "Semantic Spaces" to "Poem", then again I immediately loved the group's early album "Syrophrenikan" with its hypnotic African tribal beats. "Spheres" just didn't move me. The album isn't bad, it was just a bit too weird for me, and I love unconventional music.

The first time I listened to "Spheres vol.2", I was surprised to find myself enjoying this album immensely. The songs were the songs I was expecting to hear on the first "Spheres" album. There is a sense of cohension on this album without the songs sounding the same. Plus the songs are more melodic while maintaining that abstract ambient sound that can also be found on "Spheres". Now while the songs on "Spheres" were too long for my tastes, I had no problem sitting through the 5-10 minute long tracks. "Spheres vol.2" would be the ideal soundtrack for a modern science fiction film. That mysterious, haunting vibe permeates throughout this entire album. I'm glad I picked up this album when I wasn't really sure if I wanted to after being disappointed with "Spheres".

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent work!, January 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Spheres II (Audio CD)
The music, phenomenal! Instrumental, relaxing, and absolutley beautiful! Electronic drum beats, but they really are brilliant! I hope that one day, film makers will get Bill Leeb to do their soundtracks. The sound is quite similar to the instrumental "Semantic Spaces" tracks, but lighter! MUCH lighter! The one thing that I really don't like is the art work of this re-released version! The track list is wrong! It's got 7 tracks instead of 6! Track number 2 should actually be "Transhumanist". And I don't know why they replaced half of the beautiful landscape (first release) with an ugly black background on which you can hardly read the album's name. But at least the music is brilliant, doesn't matter what you are doing, driving, working, trying to sleep...

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible deep ambient with effects to keep you on your toe, July 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spheres II (Audio CD)
In my opinion, this is the best of the Delerium albums. It maintains powerful themes and melodies in the background, and has quite a few interesting effects which tingle the spinal column. There is the occasional startling interjection, so it may not be the sort of ambient you'd want to sleep to, but there's not much better as far as true ambient listening is concerned.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Delerium album, March 11, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Spheres II (Audio CD)
I really feel that this album is getting a bad rap. I love everything delerium, and have almost all their albums. It seems that most people are rating based on the latest albums, which are no doubt good, but they are also rather conventional (for this type of music). Of course, being a tech geek, this may be biased, but spheres II is just the most hyper-space age album I've ever heard, and it is extremely relaxing and invigorating at the same time. I especially love the first few tracks on here, particularly Shockwave. The fact that this CD also has very few vocals appeals to me, since you can here ethereal female voices with many groups and genres. In short, I listen to Poem, Karma, and Semantic Spaces maybe every few weeks on my mp3 player, but this one several times a week. For space-age sound buffs and all techno lovers, this is definitely a great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spheres II: A continuation of classic Delerium, February 20, 2005
By
This review is from: Spheres II (Audio CD)
This is the second part to the Spheres' collection from Delerium and it delivers just as the first volume did. There are 6 songs all good length wise that continue the great journey that listeners started in part one. Again the 6 songs here would certainly make good music material for a sci-fic movie. This is Delerium at their best with Leeb and Fulber delivering 6 top-notch songs for the eager Delerium fans.

Pretty much the two standout songs on this album are Hypoxia with the intense industrial beats and Shockwave that sent delirios shivers down my spine. A must for any fan new or old of Delerium. Early Delerium lovers will enjoy immensely this classic CD.

A great album from Delerium for those who appreciate their non-commercial efforts as of late. The best tracks are definitely Morphology and Hypoxia, both of which have that wonderful Roland TB-303 squelching sound that sounds so foreign for a band mostly about "organic" sounds.

Recommended for hardcore Delerium fans, but be wary if you're only into the modern stuff, as this is nothing like it. There are no female vocals (or any vocals other than movie samples) or lush soundscapes - just cold, hard-hitting, electronic sonic imagery.

5.0 out of 5 stars continuation of classic delerium, March 23, 2009
By
This review is from: Spheres II (Audio CD)
Spheres II. A great album. This is still part of the "classic" delerium style before they changed up their sound in Semantic Spaces. This is not quite as dark as some of the previous albums, but it is still ambient and does have a bit of a dark side. It IS very space related, with many samples taken from sci-fi movies such as 2001. It creates a great atmosphere and completely fits the whole theme of the album. Some of the tracks are even fairly danceable, which is saying something about the early delerium sound. Great for those who like to sit back and relax or just gaze out at the stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delerium's finest point in it's musical evolution, September 18, 2004
This review is from: Spheres II (Audio CD)
The one point that I wanna stress here is that this is the last album that Delerium made before they sold out to Nettwerk... they were peakin'... Semantic Spaces was cool just for the fact that it was new to delerium... But for those of you who are shoping around and stumbled onto this page, and if you are a fan of music that was intended to broaden your horizons, don't hesitate to get this or any album before it by Delerium... each song on Spheres II was created with a crescendo that will blast you out of orbit... and you'll love the ride.
