Book Description

Ashton Grey’s restaurant, Sweet Home, is in trouble. Months of empty tables have left her and her partners near bankruptcy, and her father’s prediction of her failure as a chef seems imminent. But a chance encounter could provide Ashton with the publicity she needs to save her restaurant—if the fiery chef is willing to compete on a reality cooking show. But in order to win, she needs to stay focused. No problem…until she meets the head judge.

Celebrity chef Ty Cates is ready to get away from the camera and back to the kitchen where he belongs. Performing as head judge on a reality show is just one more commitment he’d like to get out of, especially after he meets Ashton. Head judges dating contestants is about as taboo as putting ketchup on filet mignon, but from the moment they meet, there’s a simmering heat between them that neither can ignore.

As the competition heats up, they rely on sneaking around, stealing amazing night after amazing night together when the cameras aren’t rolling. When both realize what’s starting to feel like love could easily be a recipe for disaster, Ashton and Ty need to make a choice—get out of the kitchen or turn up the heat.

Ashton Grey's restaurant Sweet Home doesn't have much time before it goes under unless Ashton can make a name for herself. What better way than as a contestant on a reality cooking show. What she doesn't count on is Celebrity Chef and show judge Ty Cates heating things up in the kitchen and the Wreck room and the bedroom and the woods. Can Ashton keep her head, win the contest, save her restaurant, and maybe fall in love?
Fans of reality shows will get a kick out of this sweet and funny story. Ashton and Ty steam up the pages and the supporting cast is icing on the cake. Fans of the Rising Star Chef Series by Louisa Edwards are sure to get a kick out of Some Like It Spicy.
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy action, condiments included :) July 15, 2013

I watched a few reality shows in my spare time and this gives me a dose of that in a book. Ashton is partners in a restaurant in Chicago which isn't doing much business. A video recording of Ashton getting upset with a customer gets leaked to producers of a reality TV chef show. Ashton's fiery attitde gets her booked and she agrees to do it for the money and attention it will bring her failing restaurant. Ty Cates is the host and one of the three judges of the TV show. Ty has an immediate attraction to Ashton but flirting with a contestant is off limits. Will heat continue in and out of the kitchen for Ty and Ashton? If you love reality kitchen shows this is right up your alley. I loved their relationship and chemistry. I was given a copy of this book by Entangled Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

My 4.5 star review from Guilty Pleasures book reviews:

New to me author Robbie Terman serves up a delicious treat in her latest book Some Like It Spicy. While I don't want much reality TV, I have a hard time passing by books with a cooking theme. So when I read the synopsis for this book, I knew it would be one I'd enjoy I just had no idea how much I'd love it. Set during the filming of a Celebrity Chef competition we find out just how hot things get when the host and top chef judge falls for one of the contestants. I found this book to be a delicious and sensual treat filled with stolen moments, sexy food play, and I give the author kudos for showing the true Texan spirit in one of the supporting cast.

I fell in love with the heroine, Ashton Grey in the first chapter. A no nonsense executive chef and restaurant owner she has no problem sharing her opinion with everyone including a jackass of a customer. Her most recent tirade gets her noticed by a producer of The Next Celebrity Chef and while it's something she really doesn't want to do her failing restaurant and her two best friends and business partners make her realize she has no choice. She can only imagine how her overbearing, pompous, verbally abusive restaurant critic father will react when hears the news.

Ty Cates' life is no longer his own, a top celebrity chef his image and name have afforded him every opportunity but it's also left him exhausted, bitter, and contemplating what he wants from life. Realizing his life is out of control but with no end in sight Ty decides maybe the voice of the new vice president of talent might be the answer to his prayers, but the minute he lays eyes on Ashton, he's a goner even though he tries to fight it every step of the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book July 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book so much I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down! I laughed, cried and believed in love at first sight. I wouldn't change a thing about the book. Immediately after reading it I went online to find a recipe for lobster mac and cheese and then drove to the store at 3 in the morning and made it for breakfast. After breakfast I read it again! I have only re-read a couple of books. This book is that great!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's like watching a cooking show in a book! July 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
One of the best books I've read this year!!!

This book made me feel like I was really watching a cooking show while getting the inside scoop of the contestant and judge at the same time. The characters were well-written and they each have their specific flaws that made them seem so real.

Ashton was the kind of person who took insults from her father all her life. She knew she was a good cook, but when it came to her father, she cowered. When people tried to criticize her food, she explodes and that's exactly how she found herself in the cooking show The Next Celebrity Chef.

Ty Cates was a southern guy that had so much charm. I fell in love with him just by reading about him. If he was a real guy, I'd probably melt on his feet if I ever meet him. He knew his appeal to women, but he also missed cooking. He needed someone who can challenge him and remind him of the joy of cooking. He found this with Ashton.

The controversy and ridiculous Hollywood protocol was sometimes annoying, but hey, that's reality. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the humor between Ty and his best friend Scott. When an author can make me laugh when writing about two male best friends, they usually make it to my favorite author list.

Overall, Robbie Terman is now one of my favorite authors and this book is an absolute MUST-READ MASTERPIECE. It'd be a mistake to miss this amazing book.

More About the Author

Robbie Terman began her journey as a writer in third grade, when she completed her first (24-page) "novel." Many years later, she is published in contemporary romance. Her heroines are feisty, her heroes Hot (yup, that's with a capital H!). And, when you read her books, if you cry a little and laugh a lot, that's just the reaction she was hoping for.

When she's not writing, Robbie can usually be found doing one of three things: shopping for shoes and handbags at Nordstrom; trying a new restaurant (or attempting a new recipe); or relaxing on the couch and catching up on her favorite television programs (if you're wondering which ones, open up a TV Guide and take your pick. You've probably guessed right!).
