4.0 out of 5 stars
Welcome to the PSP!, March 25, 2005
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spider-Man 2 (Video Game)
If you own the PS2 version of Spider Man 2, that may have scared you off from buying this one. Don't let it! This is really a good game all by itself, and it is completely different from the PS2 version that came out last year. The graphics in the cutscenes are amazing (much better than the PS2), and the real actor's voices are used again. Gameplay is relatively simple to catch onto (there's a tutorial, but no Bruce Campbell this time). It's a great introduction to the PSP, and I'd highly recommend it as a starter game. If this is how it's going to be, then the PSP is going to rule!

Great Action Adventure Game, April 3, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spider-Man 2 (Video Game)
If you enjoy adventure games, be sure to give the PSP version of Spider-Man 2 a try. It's got a nice combination of puzzles, exploration, and fighting enemies.
You are of course Peter Parker, newspaper reporter by day and crime-fighting webslinger by night. There is a nice amount of plot here, with well done cut-scenes that help to move the story along. You get the sense that you are participating in a sequence of events, not simply bashing away at random enemies.
The grahpics are really quite impressive, from the buildings you move around and the people you encounter. The cut scenes in particular are quite well cone.
The sounds are reasonable, with the original actors coming on to reprise their roles. Again, this really helps with the immersion factor of the game, that you are really becoming part of the Spider-Man world.
I like the fact that gameplay is a mix of styles. Sometimes you are saving cars from falling. Sometimes you are pulling down enemies in helicopters. Sometimes you are kicking and punching with street punks. In addition to your main objectives, there are other things you can do, other places you can go explore. It's up to you how you handle your current list of objectives.
If you just focus on the main tasks, you can zip through the game pretty quickly. But that is true of most adventure games. The glory is that you can roam around at your leisure, exploring the nooks and crannies, looking to see what hidden secrets are waiting for you. That is what helps the game last a long time and adds to the replayability factor.
Well recommended!
4.5/5

It's ok, July 28, 2005
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

Simply put, this game is fun but not worth the money.
Why?
The game is short. I beat it in two days. Although it is fun to play, it is pretty easy to beat.
The graphics are good but not great. Although all the original actors do the voices, the characters look nothing like them. All the women look manly and the men look ugly.
Enemy AI is pretty bad. All you have to do (for the most part) is crawl on the ceiling and you can walk right past all the bad guys.
The only fights that are good are the boss fights. Every other bad guy that you fight goes down in 3 hits. Even the boss fights can get really repetitious and boring sometimes.
In conclusion, just rent this game. It is not worth it to own especially when you can easily beat it within a week.
