Sadly, it does not achieve the glory that we, as the audience and as fans of Spidey, were expecting.
Does this make it a bad read, though? Absolutely not.
Plot-wise, the catalyst for this event is that Doctor Octopus is dying. He wants to assemble many of his old cohorts from the Sinister Six (Mysterio, Rhino, The Chameleon, Sandman and Electro) so that they may pull off what would appear to be the greatest con in history, but in fact is the reality of the destruction of all life on Earth. Doc Ock has launched satellites into space that will allow him to either super-heat OR repair the damage that the Ozone Layer has been subjected to due to global warming. The world's scientists get to work on this, and find that Ock's science is correct; one of Spidey's greatest villains can save the world from The Greenhouse Effect.Read more ›

Anyone who has been reading Amazing Spider-Man for the past year or so knows that Doctor Octopus and his revived Sinister Six have been quite busy working on the Doc's latest plan. The Sinister Six - led by a dying Otto Octavius - have been cooking up their ultimate scheme for quite some time, and this has been shown in small snippets in the background of stories throughout the year. Now, all those story seeds are coming to fruition, and it's a real treat for the readers to see just what writer Dan Slott has been building towards.
I have to say, this is the best Spider-Man story I've read in probably the past five years! Slott has been doing a really nice job on this title ever since he took the reins, and it's just really satisfying to see him bring this story (and era) to a close in such an outstanding manner. Slott has carefully laid down plot threads, foreshadowed troubles, and built up the suspense that leads to this climax, and the way he ties everything up so neatly is so much better than say... what's been going on in concurrently running issues of Grant Morrison's Batman titles.
Think Peter's faced some unfathomable odds in the past? Wait till you see what he's up against, here!Read more ›
Oh and the suit? One of my absolute favorites. Lots of cool tech. It also shows that Peter isn't only one of the greatest superhero; he is also an amazing scientist.

Elaboration from a 14 year old male fan: Awesome. Much better than the ones that have too much blood in them. (Like Amazing Spider-Man Big Time)Published on January 16, 2014 by Lynda
