Spidey Fan Since Childhood,

I just bought this game a few days ago and so far am having a great time playing it. Since I am such a big fan of Spider-Man I am a little biased but this doesn't change the fact that this game is plain fun. This is the closest thing you will ever get to being Spider-Man. Difficulty: Can be challenging but practice makes perfect. Graphics: Awesome. Looking through buildings as Spidey crawls on the walls is great, a little disorienting at times but you get used to it. Spidey looks way cool and his movements are perfect. Framerates are great. Gameplay: Levels are pretty straight forward with lots of information given along the way about your next objectives. You have to master control of Spidey's moves to excel at each level, but even my six year-old can play this game. Power-ups are also given which is helpful. You might notice some controller problems like how Spidey keeps moving after you let go of the control stick, or Spidey's directional control can be frustrating, but you can overcome these minor problems with some practice and patience. Sound: Voice overs are great. Narrations done by Bruce Campbell! Lots of funny comments throughout the game. Glad to hear the actual movie's star lent his voice to the main character. They included surround sound in the options(shouldn't every game have this?). Music is cool, very exciting. Overall I say this is a great game and has pretty good replay value. I love it for the Spidey Value. ...

Spider-Man: The Movie for the GCN (and other next-gen systems) has very good points and less good points. The good: The plot follows the movie pretty closely. It adds in a bunch of extra villains and activities that weren't really in the film, but unless you want the game to be two hours long, there's not much else to do. But in any case, it's pretty good. The graphics are *far* superior to the Spider-Man game released a few years back on the Playstation. It's clear that it's built on a similar engine, but everything looks a lot better. The outdoor levels, in particular, feature a very long draw distance and a very realistic-looking city skyline. Finally, the gameplay through most of the game is fantastic. The outdoor levels, where you get to sling and swing your way across the New York City skyline, are stunning. Even the indoor levels look pretty good. And Spidey is equipped (eventually) with a wide variety of acrobatic moves, and an expanded repotoire of web abiliites, such as pulling himself forwards while running towards a wall. You can also get a first-person view, making those tricky swings and zip-lines much easier. Swinging no longer eats up your web meter, making the outdoor levels much less tedious. So what's the problem? The gameplay really bogs down in the middle of the game, while you're trying to sneak into and investigate Oscorp. There are several levels where you have to crawl around in the shadows without being seen, and these stand in stark contrast to the non-stop action of the rest of the game. I found them to be mostly just a huge pain -- especially when I opened one door in the Oscorp offices and was immediately shredded by half a dozen combat robots. Whoops, guess I wasn't supposed to go that way. Also, many of the levels seem very, very linear. I know they're trying to make the game accessible to younger players, but there *are* other gameplay mechanics than "Oh no, the bad guy is behind a locked door. Find the key and/or switch that opens it!" I am also not a fan of having to find dozens of hidden little items throughout the game to unlock all your abilities. I wish they'd just give Spider-Man new combos with each level, and only hidden a few of them, or have the hidden things be stuff like extra costumes, artwork galleries, etc. Maybe it's just me. Finally, what exactly are you swinging on in the outdoor levels when you're between or *above* buildings? Just a thought. :P As far as licensed movie games go, it's a winner -- though there are better titles out there for the GCN. I'd probably give it 3-3.5 stars for its uneven gameplay, but I'll bump it up to 4 just for the fights against the Green Goblin. :)

Spider-Man is a very fun game, especially with the cheats! You can, with the cheats, play has Mary Jane Watson, The Shocker and even The Green Goblin himself! The graphics are great, especially the cutsecenes. Well, just about all the Gamecube games look great! The gameplay/controls are good, but sometimes a tiny bit confusing, ESPECIALLY Oscorp's Gambit level, if you don't know to push UP on the C-Stick to target the balloon! There are levels, plenty, 22 of them! As you may know, ahem, Peter Parker's(Spider-Man alter ego)Uncle Ben died. So, o the first level, you gotta' find the guy who knows about the killer! In the level "Search for Justice", which iis the very first level, you must defeat each Skulls Gang thugs and find answers! Then, you got to "The Warehouse" to find Uncle Ben's Killer! Then, you finally locate him and beat him up. Then he flies out the window. Here are some cheats:ARACHIDN-Unlock all movies, production arts and fighting combos.

It's a commonly-held maxim in the world of videogaming: Games based on movies are either really, really bad, or really, really good. This one definitely belongs to the latter category. As a serious old-school gamer (as in, 2-D is all the dimensions I ever need, and one-dimensional platformers have served me very well, thank you), I expected to not like the game very much. But I was pleasantly surprised--most of the time--by the intuitive controls and fairly uncomplicated button combos.Although the dialogue can at times be repetitive, there is something reassuring about Tobey Maguire's almost constant speech. The one-liners are classic comic-book stuff, and Willem Dafoe is wonderful, reprising his Green Goblin role from the film. Best Stuff: (1) The aerial combat, which takes a little getting used to, but is very fun and rewarding. (2) The very-immersive storyline, which nicely expands on the movie. (3) Spiderman's abilities are varied and great fun! Not-So-Great: (1) Some indoor areas are far too dark. (2) Some of the levels are way too short. All in all, a very good game, a must-have for fans of the movie and comics.

For those who don't know what a beat'em up game is, here is a short explanation: A type of game in which you walk on different places and beat up bad guys by kicking or punching them. Spiderman: The Movie game is one of the most complete and best beat'em up game. Here is a list of the good and bad things about it:The Good Things: The Bad Things: Overall, a short but solid game. A WORTH BUYING GAME!!!!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Spider-Man (Video Game)
Compared to the movie this game is a huge foot about to step on a small ant. This gameplay is too cool! Finding Uncle Ben's Killer, Fightning Scorpion and the Vulture, and a whole lot of other stuff. Of course multiple ariel dules with Goblin. Web controls are sweet! Tie-ups, domes, impact shots, ziplines, yo-yo's, web bombs and more! The combos are cool! Handspring kicks and triple palm punches. Web swinging is tricky at first but once u get it down, it's on! You get all uniforms like spidey's uniform, Peter Parker and 2 other awesome uni's! This takes the cake for movie games! You must have it at all costs!

The game is quite short in my opinion, but it was a great play. And although there is no multiplayer (which would be awesome), the realistic surroundings and the sweet action scenes just boggled my senses. I liked how you could control spider man's web string and fly from building to building, and i thouroughly enjoyed the fights with the green goblin. I hope that there will be a spider man sequel coming out on gamecube just as the spider man sequel hits the silver screen.

Spider-Man is perhaps one of the greatest super heroes of all time. In the traditional Marvel manner the character is deep a very good comedian too. Spidey's tounge-in-cheek humor is very well represented here, albiet by voice acting that is a little on the bland and dry side which has me worried becuase I hear that Toby McGuire (the actor playing him in the movie) provided the voice for the game. Although Bruce Campbell's narratives are great the voice overs for this game could have been a lot more energetic. I've always envisioned Spider-Man as a fast and energetic talker, and although Spidey's humor is more than present (the game is very funny) the lack of energy behind the dialogue is disapointing. The story for this game is a bit vague and choppy, but I supose that is because this game is beating the movie it's based on to the market and so they don't want to spoil the film, at least that's what I'm hoping for. If the movie is this choppy I'll be sorely dissapointed. Game play wise it plays a lot like the previous Spider-Man games, and it is probably one of the best beat-'em-ups in existance, but there are parts that are very very hard. Especially the time bomb chase down where if the bombs don't get you, the hunter robots will. Aside for that the game is very well paced, and will actually get your heart racing in some places. I have not played a game with such intense action in a very long time. Despite the dry voice acting (Please please, please do a better job in the movie Toby, I'm begging you!) and the lackluster story line the game is still very funny, and intense and a definate worthy addition to anyones game library.

This was my 2nd purchased game for the gamecube, and it was great!! Only once have I played a game that I didn't enjoy, because I read about games before I buy or rent them. THE GOOD: The levels are more than just fighting. You have stealth missions, a lot of times you have to get keys, operate computers and more. The fighting controls are awesome, and the combos you pick up along the way make you look so cool while you beat people up. (Hint: Although its hard to find, there is an absolutely devastating combo in the Scorpion boss-fight. Look for it.) You can really do everything spidey can. You can do all sorts of things with your web, crawl on any wall, hang from the ceiling, and a lot more. THE BAD: Thankfully, there isn't too much of this. However, there is some. Some of the levels involve nothing but walking, when it comes down to it. A prime example is the Vulture's Tower, which is a TERRIBLE level. Not only is it extremely frustrating, but you do no fighting. All you do is struggle to find your way through this thoroughly irratating place. However, the OsCorp levels are far worse. They are an extreme bore as well as frustrating, sneaking around in the shadows and pulling levers. And the camera angle can be a little awkward at times. Overall, though, this is a great and challenging game. If you like spidey, then buy or rent it.

follows spidey story line well, fight goblin, scorpion, shocker, vulture, and a big ol' robot. See his life progress, many more techniques than the original spidey game with sweet combos. And no, you can't drop to the ground while your swingin round the city. Kinda short but with 4 dificulty levels your sure to play for awhile. Also with a narration by Bruce Campbell for the first 2 levels. He alco guids you through a funny training. Good bonuses and awesome airial fights, has great replay value and the cinematic seuences give great graphics that look exactly like tobey Mcguire's(Peter Parker) face. Grades:(out of 5) Gameplay:4.5 (controls are fairly simple and swift movements) Graphics:4 (really sweet) Replay value: 4 (swingin and airial combat is so fun!) Overall: 4 (awesome game!)
