I bought this game at Best Buy not too long ago for only [price], when it was displayed as [price] and more at other stores. Before I even questioned this, my first reaction was "wow, I have to get this now!" But I would soon find out WHY it was [price]...

It doesn't work on most computer systems. Think about it, why else would a BRAND-NEW game posing such great graphics be so cheap? I have an 850mhz Pentium III, 256mb RAM, so my computer is more than good enough for it. I installed this game and after literally 20 mins it was finally done. First bad sign. Then I tried playing it. Well, it appears my ATI Radeon 7000 video card isn't good enough for it, so it tells me I can't play it. That means I have to shell out about [price] for a new v-card just so I can play this damn game. It requires TnL (Texture and Lighting), which is one of the FEW games out right now that uses it, in order to work. Oh, also, the help technicians told me it's "screwy" if you don't close every application running in the background (they said everything except win32 and system - which means basically close everything). Okay, my brother has an ATI Radeon 7200, the exact MINIMUM requirement (which is ridiculous when most games with graphics just as good can run with on-board video cards, like Jedi Outcast). I install/run it on his, and the game becomes non-responsive. The keyboard locks up and suddenly Peter Parker is moving in EVERY direction without stopping! I couldn't figure this out and still can't, but it seems that the keyboard (with updated drivers and everything) was being slowed down by the game and took longer to respond. I'd hit "W" for forward, and literally 3 seconds later, he'd move... but wouldn't stop. That part has nothing to do with a keyboard. In short, I would've given this game 5 stars because it's definitely worth it, but due to the screwy bugs that inhabits this PC version, I recommend you only buy this game for one of the many consoles out now (PS2, Xbox, GameCube), because everything you need is already there and it's much easier to play this with a controller as opposed to a keyboard.

I've heard a lot of people say "this game could be great if the camera wasn't so dumb." Well, I bought the game to see for myself, and let me tell you, it takes time to adjust to it. And like most games with an advanced combat system, you can't just expect to pick up a controller and be an expert. You need to get used to the camera, which is different than any other game I've played. But give it about half an hour and you can do some really cool things with it.

So if you're like I was, wondering whether to get it, here's my advice: If you want a game like Quake, only starring Spiderman, where you press 2 or 3 buttons ad nauseum, don't get this. If you want something different, something that with some really unique moves (I *love* jumping on thugs' shoulders and pummeling them in the face!), then this game is your cup of soup.

And it's not perfect. On a scale of 10 I'd give it a 9.2. The enemies look like they came out of the Clone Wars, it's pretty easy to get double teamed, and you unfortunately can't go all the way down to the streets. (but in the game's defense, do you know how much of a memory hog it would be if you were able to walk on the street amongst the people?)

Among the great things are the Bruce Campbell voiceovers (he's a riot), the graphics (absolutely mindboggling, especially the details of the building reflections and the water, which is worth the price of admission alone), and the complete immersion into the life of Spidey. You don't PLAY Spider-Man. You ARE Spider-Man. It also rules because there are a TON of things to unlock, hidden areas, moves to master, and different outfits to try. It's not your typical game and it doesn't try to be. It is completely immersive, despite the time needed to get used to everything. You can't go wrong. And while you're at it get Jedi Outcast, too, because that game rules as well!

WOW! what can I say, Activision and Grey Matter (the folks who brought Return To Castle Wolfenstein) did another great job. This version of Spiderman goes well beyond any other attempts at a game about the Amazing Spiderman. The gameplay is very dynamic, the graphics are superb. I often find myself just moving the game's camera view around to look at Spidey's details and just how cool he looks. The controls take some effort to master and remeber- there are a lot! But I think that's a part of what makes this game so fun. Spidey has many many differnt attacks, moves and ways to travel. It's very cool to be able to crawl over anything, the enviornments are totally accessible, and objects can be picked up and used against enemies. Overall, the game is great, and Spidey fans will fall in love, and newcomers will surely be impressed as well.

Upon launch this game does a hardware check of your graphics card to see if it is "TNL" compatible. If it isn't, you won't be playing this game. Period. There are no options and no workarounds. During installation, "Spider-Man: The Movie" displays a very short list of compatible video cards. Find a copy of that list and make sure your card is on it. To be fair Activision does mention some of this in its minimum system requirements, but if you're not up on your tech-talk to know what "Full Transform and Lighting" is--or if your system has it, you'd better do some research before spending 50 bucks.

The game is a lot of fun to play. The only problem I had with it is the graphics don't seem too good during the game (the cinema movies are great). This could possibly be due to my video card. The game ran pretty choppy on an Athlon XP 1700+ with 256 MB DDR and an nvidia geforce2 pro video card. It was very playable though. Perhaps the video card slowed it down? Other than that, I like it. 4.5/5 stars.

If you love Activision or Spiderman, and are sensitive, do not read any further.

The goods:
The graphics and animation are cool, but that's about it. Also, it seems that it does not work your computer's butt off, so that's cool.

The bads:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't seem to brighten up the picture. The game does not let me.

It seems that Activision and whoever they are working with, enjoy making life miserable for anyone who likes complete control of their character. There was a Spiderman before this and the controls were pretty bad. Infact, it feels just as bad.

Well in this Spiderman (SM), there is an awkward feel to the controls. You move forward, SM moves forward, you move backwards, SM DOES NOT move backwards; instead, he turns 180 degrees and then he moves towards the monitor (you). In most first person OR third person games, the keyboard controls the character the way you want. The mouse is used as a pivot for the character's torso movements; however, in this game, the mouse control is completely eliminated. Instead, the mouse controls the angles. But wait! You don't really have control of the angles; the angles seem like they are randomely changed to disorient you. That's right, you are swinging left to right of screen, when all of a sudden, the camera angle decides to change by itself, and you are now swinging up to down of the screen. Cool eh? Um no.

You beat up bad guys. And they just fall and dissapear. Not exactly fun. You are swinging in the air, but when there are no more buildings above you, your web is still pointing in the air as if they are attached to the clouds. It is a strange feeling. The "spidey senses" is not always accurate. You follow it to the best you can; however, sometimes the target is right under your nose, but the "spidey senses" tells you it is "that way" or "this way".

The tuturial is also annoying. You get this voice (Maybe the movie actor himself, I can't tell) narrating the instructions to you, but he throws in a bunch of Bob Sagat jokes (if you forgot who Bob Sagot is, he is the father in the old sitcome "Full House"). I want to learn how to play, not listen to some guy try to be funny.

When you fall from buildings, there is an invisble barrier where if you cross it, you would die. You cannot climb down the building and walk among the crowds. The invisible barrier stops you. Not exaclty a complaint, but a warning for those of you who have to get their nose in every aspect of a game.

If controls are important to you, do not buy this game. If you want a good single player game, get maybe Jedi Knight 2; it has great controls and even greater multiplayer.

Activision and its partner(s) could have done a lot better. It is ashame the graphics were negatively countered with poor controls and interface.

I gave it 2 stars because they neglected what is so important in a PC game - controls.

Hi, Spider-fans. This game is great, cheap, and over-all fun! I won't just keep saying it's fun (even though it is), I'll tell you why. First of all, you can swing high, low and have amazing combos! This is not like the other Activision Spider-man game, where you could only swing to one building at a time, and had very, very few combos. Anyway, there is also amazing fighting action, so for you guys who don't like beatin' up bad guys, the bums fading away may be too much for you to bare. However, you NEED a 3D card to play this game. So if you don't have one, exit out of this screen, get in your car, drive to the store, buy a 3D card, come home, and then finish this review. Or just buy the game at the same time to save gas. There are many amazing cheat codes to get for this game, so either before or after you buy it, go to www.gamespot.com and get them. You'll need the code IMIARMAS to do any of the levels after the first time you log off the game, because stupid Activision NEVER lets you get a level select when you log back on! Also, the icing on the cake is playing as the... the... the... all right, I'll tell you. The Green Goblin! Yes, you read right. The Green Goblin! You get pumpkin bombs, pumpkin missiles, razor bats, a flying Goblin glider, and some more! Awesome! The game is worth the price just for that! But whenever you use the Goblin, use the code CHILLOUT and ORGANICWEBBING, for unlimited pumpkin supplies and unlimited glider weapons. Well, don't just sit there! Buy it! Buy it! BUY IT!

In order to play this game, you must have a TNL (transformation and lighting) capable 3D card (for your computer). You may have the demo, which works correctly on your PC, and think that the full game must work too. You're probably wrong, like I was. So when I bought this game, I installed it and tried to open it. An error message told me that my computer video card doesn't work with this game. I HIGHLY recommend that before you buy it, check and make sure that your video card will work with the game. <...I had an Intel card which didn't work. But I want to play the game so much that I'm willing to buy a supported 3D card. ...

This is one of the best games I have ever played. The levels are great and the final levels are the best when you get to take on the Green Goblin. Some levels are really hard to beat but there is a level skip cheat code which works well. I got it over a month ago and I still play with enjoyment. YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Spider-Man: The movie" is so much fun! The animation and 3D images are awesome! Forget other Spidey games...this one tops the charts! There's more combat moves. More acrobatics! More web-slinging! And especially, more of that delicious, state-of-the-art 3D, baby! The game's graphics are so rich, it actually looks and sounds like our wonderful New York City! Even Spidey and The Green Goblin are voiced by no other then...*drum beats*...Tobey Maguire and Wiillem Dafoe! Darn smart, huh? Oh! And did I mention that you can use other characters besides Spidey himself? You can! Isn't that pure genius? You can use characters like Shocker, Captain Stacey, Mary Jane, the Green Goblin and much more. How, do you ask? Just go to the specials menu, select "Cheats", then type in - What? You think I'm going to tell you everything? Stop being so lazy and search for it on the net, for crying out loud! The game rocks. It has everything a good game should have: Great graphics, great sound, great story, great soundtrack, great entertainment, I mean - this is neat stuff! Thumbs up for the geniuses at Activision!
