You know you're dealing with a real blockbuster when the soundtrack is made up not only of rocking tracks, but of rocking tracks that were recorded specifically for the movie instead of being fished out of various preexisting albums. (Okay, except for Chubby Checker's "The Twist"--that ones not hot off the presses.) Such is the power of Spidey that he inspired the likes of Snow Patrol, the Killers, Jet, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Wolfmother--and of course you just have to look at the title of "The Supreme Being Teaches Spider-Man How to Be in Love" to know the song is by the Flaming Lips. The overall mood is less heavy than on the previous soundtrack, with the selection hitting pretty close to an alt-rock bull's eye. Highlights include "Sealings," a return to form for Yeah Yeah Yeahs; the Walkmen's evocative "Red River"; and Jet's "Falling Star," a muscular piece of retro-balladry. Among the oddities are Coconut Records, the new project of actor (and former Phantom Planet member) Jason Schwartzman; its contribution, the lovely "Summer Day," features backup vocals by Kirsten "Mary Jane" Dunst. Still, sometimes a big name is not needed: One of the best tracks, the anthemic "Portrait of a Summer Thief," is by the unsigned (as of this writing) Austin band Sounds Under Radio. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

These aren't quite the songs I would pick for a Spider-Man movie, but on album, they work great. I listened to the album every day during the summer of 2007 and every time I listen... Read morePublished on April 17, 2011 by Jerry Hart

This soundtrack is okay for me. Seriously, so so. It is because the fighting music and the other ones are not in it. However, the songs from this movie are good. Read morePublished on January 2, 2008 by Kevin C. Li

|Song Mary Jane is singing at the end in the bar?||
The song is called, "I'm Through with Love", and it was sung by Marilyn Monroe in the movie Some Like it Hot. That's the only movie I know of that it's been played on (besides S-M3), but I like the song a lot!
I hope that helps!

|When is the score soundtrack for the film being released?||
The soundtrack album released as it was with none of the score of the film really is sad. They essentially were getting back at Elfman who refused to work again with the movie director because the director is a pain and Elfman gave them his score to use from the prior two movies and they did.... |Me Being nice||
What O.S. Saboor failed to mention about his "being nice" is that when you download the album for free, the downloads are ".tar" files and cannot be opened on your computer like ".mp3" files. Not exactly doing a favor for anybody!
