Pick this up for the Spider-Man game alone,

This review is from: Spider-Man:Mysterio Menace/X2 Wolverines Revenge Bundle (Video Game)
This "Dual Pack" collecting Activision's GBA games Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace and X2: Wolverine's Revenge is a great value and features one great game (Spider-Man) and a decent side scroller (Wolverine's Revenge) that was originally released as a tie in with the X2: X-Men United movie.
When first playing Activision's Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace for the GBA, one question will come to mind: why are the portable Spider-Man games so good and the portable X-Men games so average? That is a mystery, but what isn't is how surprisingly good this game is. You play as everyone's favorite wall crawler as you run through New York taking on super villians such as Mysterio, Electro, Rhino, and Scorpion. First thing you'll notice is the superbly animated graphics and eye popping detail. The environments are so well done and little details (love the guy dropping the toilet paper) are instantly noticeable and nicely done. The sound is great as well; hearing an enemies jaw snap has never sounded sharper on the GBA's little speakers. Controling Spidey's powers has never been easier thanks to the super tight control. Along the way you'll get to choose your own path when you find many of the alternate level paths (the levels are superbly designed) while you fight the countless enemies and climb walls and avoid obsticles. Vicarious Visions, the developers behind the GBA Tony Hawk games, has crafted another GBA must have. Released around the time X2: X-Men United hit theaters, X2: Wolverine's Revenge focuses on the adamantium clawed mutant berserker as he makes a trek across Canada to learn more of his forgotten past. With telepathic help from Professor Xavier, you guide Wolvie through a horde of enemy ninjas and guards before taking on level bosses like Pyro, Shiva, Deathstrike, and of course, Sabretooth and Magneto. The graphics are typical side scroller fare, but everything is animated nicely, while the sound effects are decent as well. The control handles easily for the most part, and Wolverine's moves are nicely translated from the comics to the game, and his regeneration ability is nicely utilized as well. There's nothing wrong with X2: Wolverine's Revenge for the GBA as this version is better than it's home console bretheren, but once you beat it, there's nothing else left to do. If you're a Wolverine fan, comics or movies, and you can find this cheap then pick it up, just don't expect much more replayability out of it once you beat it. All in all, this Dual Pack is a great value for GBA owners that are fans of either or both licenses, and it's worth picking up for Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace alone.
