Short and Sweet and now I know why,

This review is from: Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
I recently purchased a copy of the Spider-man 2 score. By the way, it was hard to find a copy in my city, but I eventually picked up one in Chicago. The CD is really nice with a lot of what I heard in the theater except a few cues that were used in some key moments of the film. Some of these cues are the unveiling of Doc Ock's machine (the one with all the choral sounds), Peter trying to deliver his pizzas on time, and all the cool cues we heard during the train fight/train stopping sequence. I knew this was the case before I bought the CD, but was still a little disappointed even after I bought it anyway. I'm not disappointed I bought the CD, just disappointed that I can't hear those cool music cues on my home speakers. I wondered what the reason for leaving such great song moments off the CD was and then I read a Film Music site and it explained that during post production, some of the movie was re-edited and that Danny Elfman was more than likely busy working on another project by then and they needed a few parts of the movie to be rescored. These parts that were rescored were done by John Debney and Christopher Young. That's the reason they call tracks 10 and 11 bonus tracks because they're the original score that Danny Elfman had planned on being used in the edit of the movie that he saw. They didn't put the new rescored tracks on the CD since Elfman wasn't responsible for those. Well, hopefully they'll put an isolated music track on the Spider-man 2 DVD when it comes out.

Replacement cues,
By Elastic Planet (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
This is a good Elfman score, but I wished they included the replacement cues written by Christopher Young, John Debney, and Joe LoDuca. Christopher Young wrote the train scene music for those of the other reviewers wondering why that track was not included on the CD. On the one hand, it's interesting to hear the original score and try to guess why Sam Raimi didn't like it. On the other, it would be nice to have the music that was actually used in the film. (note: Young, Debney, & LoDuca are not listed in the credits, but are in the crew list on the IMDB)

Great score!!!,
This review is from: Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
This score wasn't just beautiful music, it also puts you in the mood of superhero's. The beginning theme is probably the best. I was suprised to find that the next one after that,(2), is also very well done. Peter Parker's theme with Aunt May is also very nice. #9 and #10 are also very good themes and have alot of action music in them. The last theme, #14, is also one of the best on the cd. And of course, there's #15, Raindrops keep falling on my head, which is a true classic. All in all, I'll say that this cd is definately worth buying. My only complaint would be that it is too short. But trust me, buy this cd if your a true fan of Spider-man!! ;)

Danny Elfman is still the man to approach when you're making this kind of movie; he's the number one, even before John Williams, and he clearly proves it in Spidey 2.
Elfman uses the same themes he composed for part one, and it would have been foolish not to do that. There are many parts I really love. The main titles, of course, but also Doc Ock's theme and music. "Angry Arms/Rebuilding" brings back the wonderfully light, Edward Scissorhands-style choir. The string glissandi are a fantastic addition and create a feeling of mean deceptiveness and seduction, used for Ock's mechanic arms. I especially welcome the return of the Goblin's music in "The Goblin Returns". Spidey's theme is used a lot more in this one, and also in different ways. So many good things to say about this score, so why only four stars? Well, as other reviewers mentioned before, there's about 50 % of the score missing. I really don't get it; they release a Soundtrack with some songs, that don't even refer to the film, one months before the movie, and they release a score album one months AFTER the movie with only 45 minutes. Where's the point? Another thing I don't understand is why they labeled tracks 10 & 11 as bonus tracks. They're in the movie, aren't they?

Good score-better movie,
By Travashamockery "Waters" (Moore, OK) - See all my reviews

It's sad when such an amazing score gets brutally whittled down in its transition from theatre to cd. There is alot that is noticeably missing (and I am sure even more than I am aware of). The scene where Peter delivers the pizza and Doc Oc unveils his machine have been eliminated completely, and the train scene has lost some choir work that would have made it the best cue on the cd. As it stands, the CD is still very good despite these faults, and the fact that there is less than 45 minutes of score music on the cd. The CD could have easily competed with "Batman", but instead we are left with a good, but not great cd.

This review is from: Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
this cd is a great buy for spider-man fans because it includes most of the music score but not all. my favorite tracks are track #1 whick the title theme, track #7 which is titled the mugging/peters turmoil peters turmoil is the first 3 minuets and is also the theme when peter says I'm spider-man no more, I also like track #9 which is titled hes back, track #14 which is titled at long last love, and finnaly the classic but annoyingly catchy track #15 which is raindrops keep fallin on my head. other themes on this cd are train/appreciation which is track #10. also there is the track titled the goblins returns which includes a little of the green goblin theme.

Where's The Rest of It?!,

I must echo another reviewer's comments by saying that although Danny "Pee Wee" Elfman did a fantastic job orchestrating this film, some of the best stuff is not included on this CD. Most notably missing is the music from the First Fusion Experiment, the beginning of The Train Fight, and after The Train Fight when Spidey passes out. Don't let the song titles fool you because half of them are misleading. And again, it's hard to understand why they only fill a potential 74/80-minute disc with 48 minutes of music. Sony really missed a golden opportunity to release a stellar and complete score that compliments the changing moods of this film masterfully.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
I bought the Spiderman 2 Score CD and it's great. It sounds the same from the movie only 45 minutes of great themes inspired by Danny Elfman. But they don't have a lot of themes from the movie on there. Only themes it don't have is the theme where Doc Ock is showing the people where he puts on his costume and turns into Doc Ock or the theme where Peter is delivering the pizza and he gets fired or the theme where Peter is running late to class talkin to Doctor Connors and he's headed for home. I got disappointed that they didn't have the theme where Peter was screaming crazy on the train and the citizens helped him out but the theme almost sounds the same at the end of Final Confrontation from the first Spiderman score soundtrack. So I hear some piece from it. But it does have theme where Peter is screaming and he's rescuing MJ when the thing falls on her and he saves her. I only wish they would have every theme on there but they don't they even don't have the theme where Peter falls on the ground and he takes off his mask trying to use his web or the theme where he gives up Spiderman saying I'm Spiderman no more or the scene where Harry takes Spiderman's mask off saying let's see whose behind the mask that theme is not on there. None of those themes are on there but you got what you got from the movie and some of them are still good and a lot better than the first Spiderman score. It's worth to get if your a movie score fan.

This is a great soundtrack to have in anyones collection.
I Have been a fan of Danny Elfmans Work for some time now i think the first time i heard him was when he did the score for the first batman film which i loved then i heard his work again come mission impossible 1 which was a great soundtrack, i also just recently brought planet of the apes score which is another fine example of his work but if u want the best of Danny Elfman u must have this cd in youre collection. it is really different to his other soundtracks which supprised me a lot we r seeing a new Danny Elfman with this soundtrack with all the comic books now beeing turned into films they have to get the best soundtracks and this is one of them my favorite tracks on this cd are Spiderman 2 main theme, Dock ock is born, and Dock Ock's Machine which are amazing tracks they dont last more than 3mins each but still give u the feel of the film and what danny is trying to get through to the audience watching the film. I Only just recently started to by Dannys work and Spiderman 2 score was one of my first of his soundtracks, i also recommend The Batman Score and Mission Impossible 1 which are great works of art by Danny this is a must buy for all Spiderman fans and Fans Of Danny himself truly worth the money i would also recommend the siderman 2 various artist cd which i dont usually buy but has the rest of the songs in the film which didnt make it on to this cd. If u buy these Cd's u won't regreat it trust me.

Good, despite distracting behind-the-scenes drama.,
This review is from: Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
It's sad that Danny Elfman and director Sam Raimi are no longer working together. Supposedly, Raimi was a monster to work with on this film, resulting in the hiring of two other composers to work on the movie -- Christopher Young and John Debney. The music is nearly as good as the first film's, though there is a lot of familiar material that's simply reused from "Spider-Man." It's also pretty sad that the insert contains no thank-you list. Elfman must have been very bitter. And the fact that two original version of music are listed as "bonus tracks" (one of them -- the train scene -- was rescored by Young) is simply ridiculous. It was as if Elfman was making them sound more important than they are.
