He's very eager to try and read these short books.

Reading is 'boring', but the superheros in the books make it 'cool' enough for him to want to read them.

My 3 1/2 year old loves the books but they were not really what I was hoping for along the phonics end of it. They are not really what I would consider good first books because they are not all easy to read for a beginner reader. They are nice and short though which does keep the attention span of my 3 year old. For an older child beginning to read these probably aren't going to be a great choice. If you have a little spiderman lover who you just want to be engage for a bit into any book... these are good. I have had other box sets along the same lines for my other children that were better for the purpose of learning to read.

My little guy loves these books he enjoyed the stories of spiderman and how they teach about spiderman and what he does who he fights and so on. They also help with early reading they are not too hard for early readers which is great.

Oh my goodness - what a "treasure in a box" these little phonics books are! I babysat my older grandson from the time he was a newborn, and he was just a month shy of 4 when his little brother was born. I bought this set of a dozen little (5" x 5", 12 page, stapled) books as something new and fun for us to read during our last six weeks of "just us" time (while my daughter-in-law got in some daytime bonding with her newborn during maternity leave.) I'd been reading TO my grandson since he was tiny, but more and more he was able to recognize words, and it felt like a good time to bump it up a notch. It was AMAZING how quickly his reading vocabulary increased during those six weeks!

The dozen titles in the cardboard box (with a nifty handle!) are: "Meet the Villains", "Spider-Man Versus The Lizard", "Menace of The Molten Man", "Spider-Man Versus The Vulture", "Spider-Man Versus Electro", "Spider-Man Versus Kraven", "The Great Holiday Chase" (featuring Silver Sable), "Meet Spider-Man", "Clash with The Rhino", "Spider-Man Versus The Green Goblin", "Battle with Doc Ock", and "A Day in the Life of Peter Parker". There's a colorful illustration opposite a few short lines of simple (large print) text, with widely spaced lines to make it easier for little ones' eyes to follow. Each book begins with a page highlighting words that will be found in the book, including "sight words" (i.e. "a", "if", "said", "too", "he", "into", "to"), words to find within the book and sound out that feature a sound (i.e.

I bought these books for my 5 year old who is just learning to read. Reading is 'boring', but the superheros in the books make it 'cool' enough for him to want to read them. Each book focuses on a particular vowel sound, ie; long I, short O, etc, so we're able to learn about the different sounds in different words. Some of the pages are pretty difficult for him to read, so I don't expect him to be reading them on his own for a while; however, kids don't learn to read on their own. If you get these books for a beginner reader, expect to sit with them and help them learn.

My son loves Spiderman and is just learning to read. These books are a little further advanced for him, so he can't read them yet, but hopefully soon. Until then, he loves to look at the pictures and have us read the books to him. :)

These small little books are perfect for the beginner readers. The contexts will hold that little boys attention. Plus the little box with handle is very convenient to keeping them together

I was so grateful for the I Can Read superheroes sets. Granted, they are pretty simple reading, as others have commented. However, I have found them a great way to get my son to show interest in reading on his own. We read one of these, and then I read another spiderman book that has more detail. It creates enthusiasm to use as a foundation to grow in reading for boys who just don't show much interest or have much of an attention span for reading books. I have gotten more in the series, and we do enjoy them. As for the case, we never really used it anyway, as the thinner cardboard boxes never handle much use. Maybe those who wanted to keep all the books in the packaging box could get a mini spiderman backpack to carry their books in, just as a suggestion?

My 4 year loves this set of spider-man books. They are small and have just the right amount of words for kids learning to read.
