5.0 out of 5 stars What a fun and exciting book for Spider Man fans
I remember growing up watching Spider Man in the '70s and '80s. It was my favorite show on TV because of the wise cracks, the super villians and the great hero himself. This book had all the fun characters I grew up with, Vulture, Dr. Oct, Cameleon, Mysterio and Electro and it just brought back all sorts of fun memories.

...the only complaint I have is not knowing this is part 2 and 3 of a trilogy before reading it. (Revenge of the Sinister 6 & Secret of the Sinister 6) It doesn't specify anywhere on the front, back or inside cover (at least not my copy) that this is the middle and finale of a trilogy. 5.0 out of 5 stars What a fun and exciting book for Spider Man fans, July 11, 2006

This book (or series of books) is lot of fun. It has a ton of actions with enough detail in the fight scenes to actually see what is going on and more than enough plot and character development to tell an actual well written and detailed story. This book does have some cheesyness to it but you can't tell a spider man story and not be a little corny. The author does a terrific job with that as the cheesyness is actually well placed and enjoyable to read.

If you want a fun entertaining book with a lot of action with a great story that is so well written that you can actually see the cartoon/movie played right before your eyes than look no further.

Also, if you are older fart like me who grew up watching the old spider man shows on TV this will bring back a lot of great memories.

I hope he writes another one someday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Spider-Man Fun, February 10, 2007
This review is from: Spider-Man: The Sinister Six Combo (Mass Market Paperback)
Wow. I haven't enjoyed a book this much for a long time. The action is top-notch, the characters are well drawn and I felt like I was reading a comic book almost the whole time. That is high praise indeed. The author does an outstanding job of sticking true to the feel and mythos of SM while still being a literary piece of work. That is not easy to do.

There are some typos sprinkled throughout but that is the editor's fault, not the author's. Every writer has tons of typos and the editor has to clean them up. There were also a few times when the narrative goes a little too deep into the background of a character or history when it was not necessary. A little here and there is great but sometimes it was too much when the action demands attention.

Those small critiques aside, this is a great set of action novels bundled into one tight package. I loved learning more about SM as he was always my favorite comic book character. I think this book would make a better movie than the ones out currently, even though those are great as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant paragon of the superhero genre..., May 22, 2006
This review is from: Spider-Man: The Sinister Six Combo (Mass Market Paperback)
As one reviewer stated here, yes, there are quite a bit of typos. The lack of grammatical editing is very evident, to say the least. Nevertheless, if you even HALF-WAY enjoy a well-done superhero story, LOOK NO FURTHER THEN THIS STORY. Castro has done an amazing job with this. Excellent dialogue, engrossing (and well-described) action, plot twists and turns galore, constant intrigue, and many comic references abound throughout this book. As far as the superhero genre goes among novels, I haven't read a better story yet. It even gets you emotionally involved at some parts (i.e. those dealing with the possibility of Peter having a long-lost sister), and the ending is both incredibly clever AND quite heartwarming, to put it mildly. I still yearn for a Spiderman movie sequel based as closely on this story as possible - but I highly doubt that'll happen. Nevertheless, if you like anything superhero related, and you've been looking for a good read - you've just found it. No hesitation necessary.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really good but...., April 22, 2011
This review is from: Spider-Man: The Sinister Six Combo (Mass Market Paperback)
...the only complaint I have is not knowing this is part 2 and 3 of a trilogy before reading it. (Revenge of the Sinister 6 & Secret of the Sinister 6) It doesn't specify anywhere on the front, back or inside cover (at least not my copy) that this is the middle and finale of a trilogy. That is the only reason for the average rating I gave it. W/ the title of The Sinister 6 Combo, I was under the impression that these were 2 unrelated stories featuring the 6.

Other then that, yes it is a very good book for Spidey fans and comic fans in general. The story is well laid out and the action sequences are very much a page turner.

For anyone interested in this book, do yourself a favor and start w/ the first of this trilogy series Gathering of the Sinister 6 before plunging into this one.

I just started reading this book and I just wanted to let anyone interested in buying it know, it has a LOT of typos. I'm on chapter three and I count about half a dozen typos so far. If this bothers anybody or if anybody is a stickler for this type of thing, I don't recommend this book
