All in all great book, my wife and i been lovin the new flash thompson venom series, and i love that it includes anti-venom.

Only negative i have isnt for the product but for Amazons description, it says it collects Venom #6-8, when it in fact includes Venom #9 as well.

Due to this descriptive error i bought Venom #9 separately to continue the series into the Circle of Four book, not a huge loss, but i figure its worth posting something on here so someone else doesnt make the same mistake, even the marvel site says 6-8

Just like the title says, this graphic novel does include venom #9. Amazon states only 5-8 but this is a big misunderstanding. Spider-Island closes with venom 9 at the end. Although it has nothing to do with the main story, the setting takes place in aftermath of spider-island.

By going off on amazon's description saying it only contained venom 5-8, I went out and bought venom #9 issue before this book arrived which was a money waster. So again, to those that want to collect the venom by remender. the collection goes like this:

Venom vol 1 (1-5)
Spider-island (6-9)
Venom: circle of four (10-14)
Venom: the savage six (not yet released as of 7/16/2012) (15-22)

Saying that, I will now go into the review of spider-island.

This story arc of ASM was quite an interesting read. I would have to say one thing before I go any deeper though... Dont be fooled by the art cover (you will just have to read the novel to get what im talking about).

This is how the story starts... a mysterious woman helps the jackal to spread the spider gene throughout new york by using bed bugs. people with spider powers start to over run the new york city hence the name spider-island.

The art is great in this collection, especially Ramos. For some reason, I love his work considering that I love detailed drawings. His art just matches spider-man in its essence. Ramos delivers.

the cross of venom storyline to this seems awkward at first, but everything fits together perfectly and venom serves his purpose in this novel.

This is a must buy for spiderman and/or venom enthusiasts! you will not be disappointed in any shape or form. especially with discount from amazon, it is basically a steal.

Each year, the Big 2 Publishers release their major "event" comic that is supposed to change the lives of everyone in their respective universes. In 2011, we had Flashpoint from DC and Fear Itself from Marvel. Both books fell far short of what their intentions were.

Strangely enough, there always tends to be one major hero from both worlds that also gets their own mini-event comic. It tends to also include many of the characters from their universe and it usually tends to be better since it scales the size of the event down and makes it easier to invest in the characters, easier to understand the stakes, and it actually does make the changes that affect the future of the characters involved.

When Dan Slott took the reins of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN back in 2008, it gave us the best writer that Spidey has ever had. And Slott has confined his time to only writing ASM, so all of his focus is on the mythology of this one main character, unlike other writers out there who find themselves overextended by writing several books at once and some of those characters end up falling flat. Even more so, with story arcs like "Brand New Day", "Big Time", "Revenge of The Spider-Slayers" and "No One Dies", he's proven that he can write the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man with the wit, emotion and the gravitas he's too long been denied with other writers and creative teams (with the exception of Brian Michael Bendis, but that's been in the Ultimate Universe).

It was a slow build to the events of "Spider Island", but it was well worth the wait. Dr.

The spiderman blockbuster you have been waiting for. Started to lose some faith in Marvel after Fear Itself but leave it to its best character to restore that faith. Dan Slott was indeed born to write spiderman's adventures. Its good to see spidey getting his life together. Its filled with amazing artwork, tons of action, funny banter, and good storylines. No plot spoilers here but do yourself a favor and pick this up. The venom storylines were lowkey amazing and I will definitely be checking out his new series.

This is the story that Dan Slott's run was building to since he took over Amazing Spider-Man as the sole writer. Dan has managed to make Peter the kind of character that we love while still putting him through an emotional ringer. The Jackal, one of Peter's most fearsome villains has returned with a new, and even more incidious plot. Bestowing spider-powers upon the helpless citizens of New York, everyone at first loves their new powers, until phase two begins.

Peter meanwhile must learn to live life as just one of a million Spider-people. However when the true mastermind behind the Jackal shows themselves, the true horror begins.

I can not stress how cool this story is. We have all manner of spider-characters (both famous and infamous). Peter has another life changing event occur (for the better imho) and wait till you see who swings in to save the day!

I highly recommend this oversized hard cover.
