...until I saw the one already here, which was from a critic who tells us what should have been in this book instead of what it actually contains. The criticism about a misleading cover is true, though; you won't get stories featuring the armored or white costume. But this isn't a bad collection as a "sampler," as long as you're ok with seeing some continued stories that don't include the continuations.

What you do get are the first Sandman story from Amazing Spider-Man #4, a true classic Lee/Ditko creation; the too-often reprinted "Spider-Man No More" from Amazing #50 where he temporarily abandons his superhero role; the second part of the Death of Gwen Stacy from Amazing #122 with the death of the Green Goblin (though I have a hunch he won't stay dead); "Nine Lives Has the Black Cat," from Amazing #195, an early Felicia Hardy story that basically covers her origin and also sees Peter Parker being notified of Aunt May's death (though I have a hunch she won't really be dead); "Options" from Amazing #243 where Pete quits grad school as part of his attempt to improve his civilian life; "The Big Question" from Amazing #290 where Peter proposes to Mary Jane Watson (though I have a hunch this marriage won't last); "Savage Grace" from Amazing #363 with Venom and Carnage; "Siege," from #415, an Onslaught crossover where Peter and clone Ben Reilly battle Sentinels; a story whose title is too long and dumb to retype here from the rebooted Amazing Spider-Man #2 written by Howard Mackie and drawn by John Byrne featuring the villian Shadrac; "Sensitive Issues" from still-rebooted Amazing #40 with the aftermath of Aunt May (told you she wasn't dead!

Just looking at the cover of this book you would (or I) assume that it would feature a story with, Todd Macfarlane art, the red Spider-Armor, Spideys white FF suit ...right? You would be wrong. I'm not sure who decided on the misleading cover art or who picked out the stories to be featured in this book but, they should be fired.
I agree with Amazing Spider-man #4, 50, 122 but that's about all...my picks would have been..
#149 1st clone saga
#238 Hobgoblin
#252 1st black suit
#300 1st Venom and has macfarlane art
#226 (Spectacular Spider-man) 2nd clone saga
#whatever issue featured the Spider armor
#1st appearance of Spideys white FF suit

I hope Marvel puts out more of these titles featuring Hulk, FF, Iron-man, Thor ect...I just hope they pick better stories next time around...(I volunteer for that job.)
