4.0 out of 5 stars Great Line
Used properly, this line really performs well. If you are using a coffee grinder, make sure you dont overfill the spool and make it a point to slightly "underfill" it. I have also got into the habit of pulling the line tight with my free hand after I close my bail to avoid knots in the spool. 1.0 out of 5 stars Worst ever
I am not a novice fisher woman. I purchased this line for Muskie fishing. This line was the worst line I have used. I had more wind tangles than any other line. I tie a uni-knot with all lures so have not lost lures, but the tangles were frequent. This was NOT user error. I know how to spool a reel and use proper tension.

I also tried the 20lb mono and...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Line, February 11, 2009

Used properly, this line really performs well. If you are using a coffee grinder, make sure you dont overfill the spool and make it a point to slightly "underfill" it. I have also got into the habit of pulling the line tight with my free hand after I close my bail to avoid knots in the spool. I have found that what most people call "wind knots" start as a loop in the spool when the line goes slack after a completed cast. The only time I have had knots just appear in this line is when I overfill or completely fill the spool.

5.0 out of 5 stars SpiderWire, August 25, 2006
I have been using Spiderwire for several years now. I use it for saltwater, where I have landed fish over 20lbs using 15lb test. This line is just about unbreakable by hand and even with the harshness of saltwater has lasted for years. Also, this line give unprecedented sensitivity for bottom fishing. I swear I can feel a fish swim by looking and smelling bait. Although, initially pricey for fishing line, you do get a line that is very rugged, durable, sensitive and truly holds up to the harsh rigors of saltwater, a true test!

Used it for cod fishing. It was so sensitive that I could feel the fish was nibbling even at over 300 feet deep. It definitely worked for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mostly USER ERROR, July 15, 2010
This review is from: SpiderWire Stealth 300-Yard Fishing Line (Sports)
This line is excellent--and I have seen and heard others complain about bird nesting and losing lures--99% of those issues are user error! You have to be careful spooling your line--keep a steady amount of pressure on the line and keep the pressure point at at least the 1st eye of your rod away while spooling. As for losing lures, almost everyone I know who used braided line loses a few--because we don't tie braided line knots and this stuff will un-knot itself in 1 or 2 casts--and that again is our fault, not the line.
It may take a little more care to prep te line on your reels, but it is well worth it if you fish in and around a lot of structure. I fish for big bass with ultra-light tackle and generally the reel or the rod gives out before this line on those fish.
Read the directions carefully, spool you r line with consistency and learn some new knots and you will have no trouble with any of the issues people are listing on here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now this is a real deal., December 23, 2011

Spiderwire's traditional braid - Stealth Braid is the real deal here, as comppared to the lower-end EZ Braid, which most buyers should avoid, this Stealth Braid last for typically a full season for week-end fisherman.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst ever, October 28, 2011

I also tried the 20lb mono and had the same results. Solution? I switched to 15lb power pro (braided) and really like the line. The spiderwire line gets an F- try power pro instead. Better results even when using plastics with no weight!
