5.0 out of 5 stars Spiderman Spiderman What a Concept Spiderman
This review I am doing with the assistance of my 10 yr old... This game is great. The only bad point is camera control is non-existant. You can only look where they let you. The graphics and scenery is stunning and the villians rock. The best thing about this game is that the 2nd player can come in and out as they please. Meaning, if little brother begs to play and...

First of all, I want to address to everyone that is reading that this game was designed for a much younger audience in mind. I believe adults or older teens looking for the more mature Spidy game that followed the recent movie plots should take that in consideration. The title's core gameplay consists of Spider-man and a teammate fighting a bunch of creatures who are under the command of a mysterious enemy. You do nothing else but fight and that is where the problem lies. Maybe the developer wanted to keep it as simple as possible. What is good about the game is that there is a range of Spider-Man's most notable villains that you can play as. Most of their "special" moves are refreshing. You earn tokens to buy more of Spider-Man's webbing abilities. You can also upgrade your sidekicks as well. And as one reviewer pointed out, the co-op play deserves credit in the fact that if your partner playing along side of you decides they want to quit, they can do so without losing your game. It is all in the pause menu. I think this is a good rental since beating the game isn't difficult, but playing as some of the other characters are fun. In my opinion, Blade was pretty cool and he should get his own adventure title with all of his arsenal and abilities. Scorpion had some awesome moves in this game and lets not forget about Sandman.

The graphics and scenery is stunning and the villians rock. The best thing about this game is that the 2nd player can come in and out as they please. Meaning, if little brother begs to play and then gets bored with it, you don't have to reset the game. Just let him opt out on the pause screen and you are back to the game.
My son has completed the game twice and keeps playing it, He usually finishes a game and it is back to the video store, but not this one. Highly recommend for kids and adults that love Spider-Man and his Villians.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun with my Son, April 17, 2008

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spiderman: Friend or Foe (Video Game)
I played and solved this game in about 8-9 hours with my nine year old son. The game was fun in two player mode. This is a typical beat 'em up game with lots of button mashing. There are a few combos, but it is very simple to learn. The fun of the game is unlocking the new characters to play. Not only do you get heroes like Blade, Black Cat, Iron Fist and the Prowler, but you also get classic villains like Sandman, Lizard, Green Goblin, Venom, Scorpion and more. As an adult the game levels were a bit repetitive since you basically fight the same phantoms level after level. Though they do level up and change appearance as you go along. The puzzles are easy to beat and we had no trouble finding our way around. Once in a while the camera view is a bit wonky, but it is not bad overall. If you have a child at home, this is a great game to play with them. If you are an adult and want a game you probably can solve in a day, then rent this one and save yourself some money. I hope they make a sequel since there are plenty of spidey villains and heroes left untouched by this one. Vulture, Hobgoblin, Kraven, and Electro are just a few that could be used.

5.0 out of 5 stars My sons love it, July 14, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spiderman: Friend or Foe (Video Game)
My two sons, age 9 and 4, love this game. It's action-packed but reasonably predictable for young ones. I like how the tips come up on the screen, and the tokens and other goodies actually chase Spidey down rather than the kids having to remember to go and pick them up. The graphics and voice work is superb, and very amusing. Older kids and adults will probably find this game too easy with too much of the same stuff, but my little ones love it and would play it for hours if I let them. For us, it was a good purchase!

2.0 out of 5 stars if you're into fighting..., January 9, 2011
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spiderman: Friend or Foe (Video Game)
that's pretty much the majority of the game - fighting. I just wish the game creators would get a bit more creative. Sure, Spider-Man is a superhero who fights evil, but Spider-Man is also a character with an incredible set of skills one could apply toward problem solving challenges. Yes, this is a mother talking. My 9-year old loves Spider-Man. Is it so hard to put just a bit more role-model type stuff into these games? That doesn't mean it's not going to be "cool" anymore.
Not far into the game, the bosses become a bit ridiculous to beat where it's not a matter of skill but a matter of how long can your hands manage from totally cramping up because you've performed the same moves for ten minutes straight now. To me, that's lazy programming. Let's just crank out these games... kids are mindless anyway and won't notice it's the same violent crap just wrapped in a different package over and over again.
The graphics are great. And if you're into mindless stuff, this should do.

Overall, still a great game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spider Man Friend or Foe: a Great Multiplayer Game!, November 28, 2009
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spiderman: Friend or Foe (Video Game)
When I first rented this game from Blockbuster, I expected it to be pretty fun and exciting. What I got was far better. I loved the game so much that I later bought it.
First off, this game's levels aren't like your ordinary video game. Each one is about 30 minutes or so and the boss battles range from easy to difficult. The average level has you defeat several enemies. Next, you move on and defeat more enemies, and so on. Sometimes, there is a new feature such as an enormous Phantom or a device that calls more Phantoms. The bosses are characters such as Doc Ock and Rhino. Usually during a boss fight, you have to figure out your opponent's weakness and exploit it. Other times, you just brawl from start to finish. You use basic moves to attack in the beginning. Later you can buy upgrades for your characters that do everything from increasing their health to giving them new special attacks. The only thing about this game that is a bit disappointing is the fact that you can buy several items and make the boss battles significantly easier.
The multiplayer mode is ridiculously fun. You brawl with your opponent using everything from webbing to earthquakes to EMP barrages. There are enough differences between the characters to make each one unique (except for Green Goblin and New Goblin, which are almost exactly the same.)
With tons of unlockables, challenging boss fights, creative character design, and great multiplayer mode, this game is one great buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bit Short but Otherwise Fun, June 27, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spiderman: Friend or Foe (Video Game)
I'm a big Marvel fan, but my twin sister didn't want it at all, so I had to fight her on it. I convinced her to play 2-player co op. She ended up loving it, and she is NOT big on Marvel. It's a bit short, but we still continue to look for all the items in all of the cool locations. I don't know what all the complaining is about, that it's for a 'younger audience'. I'm a teenager, and I still enjoy it. Just because it doesn't have blood and cursing and it has teaming up with enemies doesn't mean it's a little kid game. It's just a game that everybody can enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A blast right out of the box!, July 5, 2008

This review is from: Spiderman: Friend or Foe (Video Game)
This game is a ton of fun right out of the box. I'm an adult and I found this game to be a total blast. I appreciated the fact that you didn't have to wander around trying to figure out where to go like many other video games. This game gives you the opportunity to play as Spider Man's enemies once you defeat them. Each enemy has a unique feel to them with their own unique abilities. It's fun being able to change your sidekick and then change back to Spider-Man whenever you want. Playing as Spider-Man is a total blast. You use your web to spin enemies around and sling them. You can also upgrade your abilities and those of your sidekicks. The game is addicting. Tons of action, tons of fun. Great comic book character game.
