I got this for an 80 yr old friend who lives in the country in SC and who has lots of spiders on her property. She's a big fan of spiders but couldn't ID a couple of the ones she'd found in one of her out-buildings. This book was a big help, she's told me. She was able to ID her critters and learn more about them. She has lots of children who love to visit her so she's used the book to teach them about some of the spiders too. It's helped the children learn about venomous spiders by letting them see pictures of them. The book's pictures are very nice and the info is in enough detail to give a bit more than just the basics without requiring a degree in zoology or entomology. She was delighted with the book. It came to her quickly in the mail as well.

There aren't many spider identification books on the market these days; however, this book is filling that void with excellent data. This book can be used throughout the Southeast United States and still be within its limits. Great field guide and source for all spider information. This is the book needed when searching for Spider Identification.

Every now and then you stumble across a field guide that stands out in the crowd. Spiders of the Carolinas is one of them. I'm in Georgia but the little book is quite appropriate here, too, and probably so all across the southeast. This guide has such excellent pictures - and brief but effective descriptions - that I've bought some for gifts for friends who keep asking -" What is that spider?"Dac Crossley
