Spiderwick Chronicles,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Spiderwick Chronicles: Books 1-5: Book 1: The Field Guide; Book 2: The Seeing Stone; Book 3: Lucinda's Secret; Book 4: The Ironwood Tree; Book 5: The Wrath of Mulgarath (Audio CD)
I enjoyed the storyline and the whimsical way that it tied all the characters together. Not a Harry potter adventure, but one that holds your interest. Quick, easy read that should be enjoyed by all who read it.
Characters remain constant throughout all five books, and the storyline is easy to follow.

The audio book is great, I may never read again. Mark reads it very well and different voices for all the people in the book. Only draw back is that some of the disc skip a word or two. But worth the money. Will give to my grandchildren to listen to since they are little and do not read well.

Great stories in which disc 5 is not defective....,
This review is from: The Spiderwick Chronicles: Books 1-5: Book 1: The Field Guide; Book 2: The Seeing Stone; Book 3: Lucinda's Secret; Book 4: The Ironwood Tree; Book 5: The Wrath of Mulgarath (Audio CD)
Disc 5 is not defective. It starts with Chapter 2 because Chapter 1 is on Disc 4, tracks 17 and 18. These are great stories for kids and the narration was terrific. I highly recommend it.

Bought this set for my daughter to listen to and ended up listening myself. Very good set of books that gets the imagination going and makes you want to be young and live in an old house.
Brilliant way to get ready for the film that's about to hit the big screen. Most enjoyable.

Fun Story, Great Production,

This is the full story of the Spiderwick movie. It takes place over the five books and they did a pretty good job of condensing them down for the movie. But if you want all the details that were left out try this. It's fun to listen to while driving and my son got a lot out of it. He commented on the stuff missing from the movie.
Special kudos have to go out to Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hamill for his reading of the story. He did a great job and I'd like to see him do more book reading. He's a natural at it. Both you and your kids will enjoy this even more than the movie, I think.

A Kid's Review

Written by 8 year old Mireya - review of audio books:
Chapter 1 of Book 5 was missing. The book really has you using your imagination. I think the Chronicles of Narnia is better than the Spiderwick Chronicles because it is more imaginative and the Chronicles of Narnia really bring in the Bible. I think the guy who read the Spiderwick Chronicles was very good, because he could make his voice sound like a female's. And unlike other narrators, you can tell the voices apart. My little sister is 5 years old, and she thought it was terrifying. Someone should always be there with a small (5 year old) child when the story is being read. She held my hand when it was terrifying.

Good Story and Good narration,

I am writing this in response to a bad review entitled "Good story AWFUL narration." I borrowed this from the library to see how the narration was before I bought it because of this review. Mark Hamil does a very good job of narrating. He does great voices for the faeries. He is right up there with Patrick Stewart, Rob Inglis, and Tim Curry in his performance. I was not disappointed at all and found it highly enjoyable.

A Great Audio Book and a Fantastic Read,

This review is from: The Spiderwick Chronicles: Books 1-5: Book 1: The Field Guide; Book 2: The Seeing Stone; Book 3: Lucinda's Secret; Book 4: The Ironwood Tree; Book 5: The Wrath of Mulgarath (Audio CD)
I was given the audio book as a gift. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. It is different from the movie which makes it very interesting. But the most fantastic thing about this audio CD is Mark Hamill's reading. It is more than excellent reading. He colors each character with creative voices. His dramatic demonstation is brilliant. I highly recommend this audio book. It is never dull and moves quickly. It is one of the finest reads I have heard.

The Spiderwick Chronicles: Books 1-5: Book 1: The Field Guide; Book 2: The Seeing Stone; Book 3: Lucinda's Secret; Book 4: The Ironwood Tree; Book 5: The Wrath of Mulgarath is a great fantasy story but the audio has something left to be desired. Hamil reads the story but many times he could have done a better job. Having seen the movie first I now realise that the books are way better. The characters are developed and they seem less wooden then in the movie. They could have added some more music and special effects to the audio version. 4/5.
