My nine year old son LOVED THIS GAME! It's the first game I've found for X-Box 360 that IS NOT VIOLENT that he actually sat down and played, and as a parent, I seriously appreciate that! He eventually beat the game, and still plays it regularly. It's nice to find something He likes that doesn't offend Me!

This game is pretty good for your kid if they liked the movie. Especially if you can get it at a good bargain price. The graphics are pretty good as well as the gameplay. My 8 year old loves this game so I think other kids would too.

Well, you can upgrade your weapons, by finding stronger one's. Example wooden baseball bat to aluminum. Weapons are for beating up Goblins, no blood or gore. Scenes are appropriate for kids. The graphics are good. The game is good is you like a challange. Hint when you are Simon with Goblin poison shoot it at the river troll, it will stun it. That will give you time to cross the river. It really does work, you know, I tried it. Good gift for kids.

Don't let the title fool you, this is a perfect game for someone 8-14. Even mom and dad can enjoy this one. The 5 stars would be 2-3 if for anoyone over the age of 13, but my son loves it.

Take you (or your 7 yr old child) into a journey of investigation and discovery. There are many quests to undertake, and the graphics are excellent, even on a large, 55" screen.

This game is so much fun! I would recommend this for just about anyone. It does have mild violence so if you don't want your children fighting Goblins this isn't your game, but it's fun it's challenging and can be a learning tool for children. It's a very cute game.

After playing the demo on Xbox Live and getting hooked, I had to purchase this game. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is addictive fun. I can't compare it to the movie because I have not seen it yet, but I enjoyed playing this game thoroughly from batting goblins to death to painting the fairies to running through the house and yard collecting stuff. This is coming from a mom of a 10 year old. I got hooked before my daugher did. Very cute, fun and entertaining game and now with the game marked down to $10 why not try it out? I paid full price for this game and still thought it was worth every penny.

I enjoyed the game, but that's my personal preference! Other games I have enjoyed are the Shrek games and Ms Pac Man Maze Madness (on PS2), if that gives you a guideline. I enjoy games with "quests" and storylines. This one probably could have been a little harder OR taken a little longer to conquer. However, I thought overall it was fun! It might be a little tough for younger kids but then again they are probably much better at it than I am! There was just a lot of remembering where you needed to go (IE: to the forest, to the rock quarry, etc) to find things or complete quests. But like I said, I'm sure they are just better than I am!

There is NO cooperative play,

This is not a full review of this movie-based game. I bought it today in order to play along with my son, who enjoyed the books and movie. The box advertises that the game is for 1-2 players, and specifically says that there is cooperative play for 2 players.
This is not true; according to what I've read in the manual, and from reviews elsewhere, the *only* multiplayer component in the game is a competitive "catch the most sprites" minigame that is unlocked as you complete the various levels. I don't want to be a stickler, but "cooperative" is not the same thing as "competitive," and to my mind, when a game advertises itself as having cooperative play, that means that you can play through the story with a friend. My son seems to be enjoying the game so far, though from what I've seen I doubt it will last. The game isn't particularly good looking visually, and there doesn't seem to be much going on. Though I should point out that I've only seen the first couple of levels/chapters. My "starred" review is based on the clearly false statement on the box re: cooperative play, and as I said is not intended as a review of the game as a whole. |
