Please note that the wine glass depicted above is slightly different than the ones I received. The new ones are slightly taller, narrower at the mouth, and wider with a more angular flare in the girdle. This is a better glass that the old Burgundy bowl from Spiegelau. Also note that appropriate stemware does enhance a wine's flavor, nose and appeal, at least for me.

I first started my love affair with wine about 10 years ago and decided that it was finally time for me to enjoy my pastime even more with some quality stemware, partially because of tasting some wine from a Riedel glass that a friend of mine has. After quite a bit of research I decided to purchase the Spiegelau after many of the positive comments that I had read during my research, even though the Riedel was recommended more, and in part to the excellent price.

Right out of the box you can tell that these beautiful, what look like hand crafted glasses, are of exceptional quality for the price. After my first glass of wine I was sold and to be honest had a difficult time telling the difference between the Riedel and these glasses, which are a quarter of the price.

I eventually ended up ordering 36 glasses in total. The glasses were packaged very well and very securely.

Conclusion: These are great stemware at an even greater price. I you are in the market for quality stemware for wine don't throw away your money on the super expensive $50+ per glass when you can pay less than $50 for 6 (or 12 if the current sale is still going on) because unless you're an expert sommelier will won't be able to tell the difference. You, your dinner quests and your friends will really enjoy these glasses.

Even thought the manufacture states that the glasses can be put in the dishwasher I wouldn't try it.

When it comes to a wine glass for wines from the Burgundy region, or in the Burgundy style, Bigger is Better. Not only are these glasses big, but the bowl is shaped to allow the most surface area of the wine possible to come in contact with the air. Fill this glass to the widest part of the bowl and give it a big swirl. This glass will make even an inexpensive wine taste like you have something to celebrate.

these are what wine glasses should be. tapered perfectly to the nose, fine stem to roll, rim thin to your lip. They don't get better than this, no matter what the marketing of the other more expensive (Rie...) say.

And they are not so expensive that if you break one, you feel guilty.

At the great deals on Amazon, just buy it and enjoy what wine drinking offers at its best.

My husband and I love these glasses. They are really really thin and wine taste so much better on the lips. Because the glass is large there is so much more aroma. It is easy to see the "legs" of the wine on the side of the glass. I don't think I ever tasted the real wine flavor before I used Spigelau glass.

We own Riedel glasses (which we love) but they are expensive to replace ($80 for 6 Burgundy glasses is a great deal). I've read articles which compared the two brands and, unless you're buying the Sommelier version, they found that for most wine consumers there was barely enough of a difference to justify the "normal" difference in cost. When I saw the price here I immediately bought one "set" (Burgundy and Bordeaux) and then, after a couple of days, bought another. In the end I had 12 Burgundy and 12 Bordeaux for less than the cost of 6 Riedel Vinium Burgundy glasses! Also, none were broken.

I work professionally in the wine trade and I've never seen a deal like this. Spiegelau is one of the most respected names in serious stemware and the quality of these glasses is excellent. I did have one glass broken on one shipment but I returned the glasses without any problem at all.

These are my all time favorite wine glasses. I reach for them fist, especially with an extra good bottle of wine. The price is right and much less than other brands of similar quality. They are light weight and the shape is perfect for swirling. Buy these, you won't be disappointed.

I ordered these as a gift for family members that live out of state. The glasses arrived from Amazon at their home double boxed, with adequate packing material between the two boxes. Not one glass in two boxes was broken. They were delighted. For novices, the glasses come with complete instructions on how to drink wine for the most enjoyment. (They are not novice wine drinkers, but they were novices to the method described.) The wine glasses are more beautiful than pictured. The glass is thin and feels elegant in your hand. They stated that wine tastes better when drunk from these glasses. What a great price on these wonderful wine glasses. Although Amazon charges for gift wrapping, they didn't charge anything to include a gift note. Woo Hoo! I highly recommend these wine glasses.

Really, this is still an awesome deal, and it was no surprise that there was a small catch. You should just know about it before you buy. You are sure to get one or more broken glasses in the delivery and I got one in three boxes so far. I do not know if this is a packaging failure or that they are known by Amazon to contain broken glasses before shipping. There were also two glasses with serious imperfections from poor quality control issues. But still at $2.50 a glass i am not complaining too much, just doing a service by printing my experiences. They are very good glasses overall if not broken or defective!
