5.0 out of 5 stars The best red wine glass ever!, December 7, 2003

Spiegelau Vino Grande Bordeaux is the best glass to drink your red wines from. Its a nice size, feels good in the hand & on the lips, the glass is thin (but not so thin it will break if you bump it), it holds plenty, lets the wine breathe, ones not afraid to swirl. I do not put mine in the dish washer, the heat seems to dull them, so I wash by hand to keep them nice & clear.
I have gone thru many wine glasses, the Spiegelau have proven to be our favorite, they are like the Riedel except they are less expensive & dont break as easily.
The Spiegelau glasses add to the pleasures of wine drinking! They also make great gifts.
I have to give credit to the authors (Dottie & John)of "Tastings" in the Wall Street Weekend Journal for turning me on to these several years ago. I thank them.
Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, affordable alternative to Riedel. And just as good., June 29, 2009

I love these glasses, and just bought my 2nd set of 6 (@$53) from Amazon 4 1/2 years after I bought my first set ($45 in '04). I broke all 6 through careless handling and overly vigorous hand-washing, so it's important to note they are somewhat delicate, but glassware of this quality and beauty is always going to be delicate and besides, they aren't as delicate as Riedel. I've also been able to put these in the dishwasher without breakage, but the manufacturer doesn't recommend that, so do likewise with caution.

For me, the bottom line is these are elegantly and beautifully designed in the classic style of Bordeaux glasses and made available at a bargain price compared to the Riedel, which actually bought out the Spiegelau company. They are affordable, functional and beautiful. So for that, I love this product. Although I purchased in June @ $53 and am disappointed that they are now $65, that's still just under $11 per glass, and I have to say I still would buy these. 5 stars for affordable proper Bordeaux glasses.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are not the WSJ glasses, April 16, 2006

I inadvertently ordered these to replace the glasses recommended by the Wall Street Journal. These are not the glasses. The recommended glasses are the Spiegelau Vino Grande Burgundy Wine Glasses. These are slightly smaller, with a less broad bottom.

Still, I'm sure they're wonderful...just not what was in the Journal.
