An adulterous MP is perfect front page material for a tabloid reporter like Max Chard - even more so when the mistress is found dead...It is not often that a Chief Crime Correspondent is expected to loiter in the dark outside a young woman's house watching her bedroom window. But there are two reasons why Max Chard is doing just that at 8 Turnbull Mews. First, he has been told to by his Editor. And secondly, because his tabloid has received a tip-off that whiter-than-white Labour MP Howard Lanche is spending his nights there with a woman who is definitely not Mrs Lanche. But there's something not quite right about this story. Why, after Max has confirmed the tip-off, is his Editor so reluctant to run the scoop? Well written hard boiled mystery. The hero is a seedy journalist just trying to get the story. Ending seems a little contrived, but it is a very nice ride getting there.
