First someone eats a steak right off the barbecue. Then someone digs up Mom's flower bed. Spike knows it's not his fault, but Shannon still has to take him to obedience school. While nervous at first, Spike discovers he loves school. He's good at all the lessons, he makes a new friend, and he even gets a blue ribbon. But as soon as he gets home, the trouble starts again. Will Spike be able to find the real culprit-before he gets blamed for more trouble?
Family Life called Spike "a goofy-looking dog you've just got to love," and in Spike in Trouble, Spike's misadventures are as funny and endearing as ever.
PreSchool-Grade 2-Another enjoyable installment in a series of books about a lovable pet. When Spike's family discovers a steak missing from the barbecue, Dad's favorite boots chewed up, overturned trash cans, and a dug-up flowerbed, the dog is blamed and sent off to obedience school in disgrace. However, after he graduates with honors, the annoyances begin again, and Spike comes up with a plan to uncover the truth. Patiently, he hides and watches, and eventually finds out the identity of the troublemaker. Playful cartoon illustrations in bold colors capture the personality of the maligned but spunky canine. Children who search the pictures carefully will find clues to the culprit's identity. Sally R. Dow, Ossining Public Library, NY Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information, Inc.

Goodnight Lulu, a children's book of the month selection, published by Bloomsbury Children's Books came out in 2003. In Goodnight Lulu it's time for bed and Lulu, the little chicken is worried. With lots of questions and humor, Momma convinces Lulu that there's nothing to be afraid of! In 2004, Momma's Magical Purse was published. In 2005 Paulette teamed up with author Aaron Reynolds and illustrated Chicks and Salsa, a Book Sense Children's Pick. Chicks and Salsa is a hilarious picture book about one rooster's quest for culinary delight! Before you know it, the chickens, pigs, and the ducks, under the rooster's guidance, are planning a Fiesta. Chicks and Salsa is featured on the PBS Children's Show, Between the Lions!
Chicks and Salsa was such a success that Aaron wrote another story involving the crafty rooster, Buffalo Wings, (October 2007). In Buffalo Wings, Paulette portrays the rooster's quest for the perfect game time snack with colorful, hilarious illustrations, lots of action, and of course "the mouse". (You Chicks and Salsa fans know who I mean!)
Paulette's newest book for Bloomsbury is Lulu the Big Little Chick. Lulu, of Goodnight Lulu fame, decides she is a big chick regardless of what anyone else on the farm thinks. She heads off on her own towards "far, far away", and soon discovers being "big" is not all it is cracked up to be. Lulu The Big Little Chick was published on June 23, 2009. Lulu The Big Little Chick won the Children's Choice Book Award in the Kindergarten to Second grade category in 2010!!!

If you've ever looked at your pet and wondered what he was thinking, you will love this book! Spike has a great personality and the illustrations boldy show all of his emotions he experiences in reaction to the people in his life. It's my niece's new favorite bedtime story. We laugh everytime we read it.
