This CD lifts my skirt!, February 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spiked Heel Stomp (Audio CD)
If anyone is going to take swing the next step it is this guy, Eric Ekstrand and his ensemble.
The Ekstrand composition, "Murder at the Cotton Club" has swing hit written all over it. In fact he has several other tracks which also are strong, strong, strong original contribution to the genre.
His band and the arrangements he puts them through are atheletic and they are all up to the challenge. In other words this is not the same ol' batch of covers but a "raising the stick" kind of creative statement. Of the eleven tracks, eight are original.
We have been dancing in the car, in the office, at home and in the clubs that play this disc- it is excellent and credible dance music in the Jordan and Callaway mold- my fav! A must have for any serious swing fan.

Eric Ekstrand Swings!, March 6, 2000
This review is from: Spiked Heel Stomp (Audio CD)
Eric Ekstrand and his Ensemble are one of the most exciting bands to hit the swing scene since Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. This cd is worth every penny -- I have a copy for my car, and one for home :)
Whether you're looking for fun music to lindy hop to, or just a great band (and i mean the ENTIRE band is great) to listen to on your stereo, this cd is for you. And you should see them live...
