5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy!
I got this for my daughter for Christmas and she loves it. We have run out of paper already so I will be buying some car stock or something for her to continue on and my guess is we will run out of paint soon too, but I will just go to a craft store and buy more. I might have to water the paint down a bit so it will spin well, but thats ok. The machine seems to have a...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not like they used to be when we were kids
I purchased this toy for my boys, 5,5,6. We put the batteries in and tried to load the paper. It's not cut right, so it doesn't fit into the paper holder. Once we fought with that, we turned it on...it didn't spin. There wasn't enough power to spin the wheel with paper. What's worse is there were NO directions. I took it back for a refund.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Stalin of Spin Art, August 17, 2009
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

We just got this today and WOW. Does it suck. It's called "Magic Spin Art";

1. There is no magic inside. I promise, I checked. If taken to Hogwart's School for Witchcraft and Wizardry (if it were allowed through the doors. Spoiler alert: No it would not. See: No Magic Inside), this machine would be immediately sorted into Slytherin due to its propensity for lying and mischief.

2. There is no art created because the machine spins too slow and the paint has a thick, enfuriating viscosity that gathers at the tip of the applicator and then plops onto the paper like so much used Pop Tarts. Yes that is a poop joke. If that offends you then you can imagine how offended I was with this sin against purity and happiness; thine name is Magic Spin Art.

3. It does spin. Faster than a microwave platter but about half as fast as it needs to in order to fling its supplied electric colored dung accross the depressed looking paper.

Conclusion.
The Magic Spin Art machine by RoseArt is a crime against humanity and should be judged by a jury of its peers so that it may be found guilty and hung from the neck until dead.

I bought this spin art toy because my son's preschool has one similar and he LOVES it. I bought this particular one based on the reviews and I hate to say but this is one of the first times I feel let down. Here are my complaints:
1) The paper the kit comes with does NOT fit in the desinated holders so you either have to make it fit in (then it sticks up in the center) or you have to trim each piece.
2) The paint splashes out of the paint area despite the "splash guard," which resulted in my children's clothing covered with splattered paint.
3) When you put more than 5 drops of paint on the paper the motor slows down and you can hear that it's working to spin the platform. I would except a motor designed for 20 drops of paint because often that's what it takes for all the children I have seen to feel their art is complete.

I must say that despite all of this my kids are still having a lot of fun, and ask to do this 4 or 5 times a day. The good parts are that it is easy to clean and store away, but I need more than that for a better review.

My recommendation is to buy this toy but from a different manufacturer. It is a fantastic idea.

I might have to water the paint down a bit so it will spin well, but thats ok. The machine seems to have a good amount of power and seems tough enough to put up with a 4 year old. Also, it comes with a little plastic cover that really keeps the piant in so it doesn't splatter all over your table. I would recommend this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome toy and gift, November 22, 2010

My daughter got this for her 5th birthday she is almost 6 and keeps having lots of fun with it. I can tell you that this is my first review I write and the reason is because I was so disappointed to see the other reviews that I had to do something about it.

1. I have had no problems with this "art creator" the paint is awesome, the speed as well... if it was to go any faster it will probably splash all over. We sit on the floor and put a plastic bag just in case. I wish it had more paper but we are buying some extra and it's fairly inexpensive.

2. My daughter is creating an art picture as Christmas gifts for her teachers and aunts. We are buying inexpensive frames to display the art. What a better gift that something she made and that will last years or a lifetime. I am framing some to put on my walls as contemporary art.

3. Yes, you have to clean it after you use it. Just grab some wet paper towels and that is it. My daughter wants to play with this every day, she loves mixing colors and discovering what they make together. Ours didn't come with glitter but I have some and we have done some art with it as well. It is just lovely!

We love this toy and there is nothing else like it. She enjoys it more than jewelry making or any other crafts that we own. If it was for her she would make art every day! I just can keep up with her. I am going to buy this as a present for every b-day party she goes to, hopefully more kids will enjoy making art than watching tv.

We got this as a gift and tried to give it a fair chance. The splash guard does not work and it splashed all over my windows, newly painted walls, floor and kids. It was a mess. The paint version needs some work. The mess it made was too much as I was finding paint still around days later.....

We have 4 kids ages 10, 9, 7 & 6. They had a blast playing with this. We had no problems with paper not fitting. The only problem we had was running out of paper too soon! They did not want to ever stop creating! They played with it for hours. I would reccomend it highly to anyone with kids.

My girls, age 3 & 6, love this! They have so much fun playing with it. I was worried because of the mixed reviews, but we have had no problems at all. No paint splashing, no motor problem, no paper problems at all.

So we were very excited to open this and start making cool art. But the paper was too big, so I had to trim it with a very excited 4 year old dancing next to me. Then, the thing wouldn't spin fast enough to splatter the paint. They should make a plug in version. Also, the refills sold are for the Alex spin art and the paper is the wrong size and the paints with that refill are PERMANENT!!!.
Not like the one I bought my older sons when they were little.

4.0 out of 5 stars FUN!, January 1, 2008

I bought this for my 8 & 9 year old niece and nephew for Christmas and we had a blast with it! Their grandmother (my mother) thought it would be too messy and so we went out on the driveway with it. The guard really works and when we ran out of paper and paint, I rinsed the whole thing out in the sink very easily. The only mess happens when little hands try to get the painting off the spinner and smudging can ensue and their clothes get painted as they lean over to look. They were thrilled with what they made and now I'm trying to find replacement paper & paint to send to them to do more. It was a bigger hit than I thought.
