5.0 out of 5 stars BEST VOCAL BAND IN AMERICA, September 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spin Art (Audio CD)
There is a reason David Crosby hails this band as "The best vocal band in America!" The four part harmonies of the Lennon Brothers are unbelievable, unless ofcourse, you have seen them live and heard it for yourself. Although, no recording could do true justice to this bands natural talent, SPIN ART,comes closer than this fan thought possible.Beginning with "The Man You Think I AM",a moving song from a new father, to the last,"Family Tree", a beautiful piece about saying 'goodbye to one our own.' This is definatly the best produced CD Venice has released to date. It's a must-have CD for any quality music lover!

5.0 out of 5 stars Destined to become a classic!!!, September 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spin Art (Audio CD)
If legendary musical icons such as Jackson Browne, J.D.Souther, James Taylor, or members of classic groups such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, the Byrds, Poco, the Eagles, Buffalo Springfield, Flying Burrito Brothers, Pure Prairie League, or Quicksilver Messenger Service were growing up today and fantasizing about the rock and roll life and being musicians, Venice is the group they would all be idolizing and aspiring to be.

Which is not to say Venice is stuck in the 60's or 70's. Quite the opposite...a band for the new millennium!

Venice captures that rare musical triumvirate combination that all seek but few achieve...flawless musicianship, heartwrenching/soul searching songwriting, and unsurpassed vocal harmonies.

For years Venice has been primarily known as a "live act", with live shows that echo back to early Bruce Springsteen in terms of length and energy. "Spin Art" succeeds in capturing some of that incredible vitality and energy on disc.

Having enjoyed an immensely loyal local (almost cult) following for years, "Spin Art" should launch Venice globally.

A guaranteed future inductee in Cleveland!

Venice...the soundtrack of our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Venice does it again, February 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Spin Art (Audio CD)
Spin Art relieved me more than anything else. I loved the first album (1990's sadly out of print self titled CD). For years I waited for a second album, and when I finally got Born and Raised, I was a tad disappointed. It was good, but not what I had hoped; Spin Art was what I had hoped for. A truly wonderful CD, with the right mix of energy and smooth. From the first notes of guitar and harmonica that opens 'The Man You Think I Am' all the way through, Venice just creates a wonderful soundscape. I don't feel the need to comment on the wonderful vocal harmonies, the other listener reviews do that nicely. Highly recomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great band -- CD is great, but the songs are better live, August 28, 2001
This review is from: Spin Art (Audio CD)
I just saw Venice at the "House of Blues" (in Downtown Disney, California, which I like to refer to as the "Mouse of Blues", sorry) and they were excellent. I got this CD and although I really like it, I miss some of the dynamics and power from their live show. The CD has softer ballads and is more acoustic. It's definitely worth having, but I'd rather have the live versions given the choice.

I just saw Venice play at the "Topanga Days" festival in Topanga, California. This was my first exposure to the band. I had never even heard of them before.

All I can say is: QUITE impressive! I didn't hear a lot of originals -- the vast majority of the music they played was old classic songs from the '60s and '70s -- but it was great. The seamless medleys were really cool. Any band that can start out with Crosby, Stills & Nash, morph that into Led Zep, then segue from that again into the Jackson Five and actually make it WORK, deserves my respect. Their medley of Beach Boys tunes was also unexpected and absolutely spot-on. Great harmonies. I had a most enjoyable time at Topanga Days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why aren't these guys Superstars YET?, February 17, 2000

There is no way anyone can listen to this band, either live or on CD and not love them. You don't have to be a music expert to appreciate the tremendous talent of these 4 men(+ 2!). This CD, along with their previous works are the reasons I listen to music. Their songs speak to me like no one else's. "So Bad" is the stand out for me personally on this disc. However "Cool Me Down" was the big winner on Born And Raised. I can't say it any other way ... BUY ANYTHING THIS BAND PUTS OUT! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

The guys have done it yet AGAIN! They've been incredible performers for many years, but they never stop getting better! SPIN ART is soulful, sexy, fun, energetic, sweet and heartfelt....all at once. Nobody tells lifes stories quite like VENICE does with a song.... They have a sound that pulls you immediately and you'll never have enough! This is one of these most talented bands I've ever had the privilege to hear. Go buy SPIN ART! And go see them LIVE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthy of Many "Spins", August 24, 1999
This review is from: Spin Art (Audio CD)
One of the most talented bands recording today has released what is hands-down the greatest album of their career, to date. "Spin Art" captures the live energy of Venice's concerts in a way that their previous efforts lacked. From rock and roll you can dance to, to ballads that knock you out with heartfelt emotion, this is great songwriting mixed with perfect execution, and when you throw those trademark harmonies into the mix, the result is pure heaven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't get any better than Venice, December 13, 2005

The boys from Venice know how to ROCK! You cannot go wrong with any album. This band has more harmony and rythym than the Eagles, with a little kick! You will be blown away!
