Great characters and sense of place,

although the plot has some weaknesses. But Jordan Lacey is a wonderful Gen X sort of detective, with offbeat sensibility and a high degree of likeability. Some of the best parts are small things that don't have that much to do with the story, such as the man who comes in to buy a Christmas present for himself.Despite the rather sloppy denouement, this series is vastly preferable that some of the others in this vein, i.e. Scarlett Thomas. |
