5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!
This game is simply great fun. We have just about every kids game under the sun in our house and it seems that most of the games have been around since I was a kid. This is a truly new and fun game. The surprise is simply brilliant and the motion is fantastic. One of the best things about this game is that my kids love it and play it for hours on end. They will play...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Fun Didn't Last Long
I bought Captain Bones for my 6 year old son for Christmas. We played it with his 8 & 3 year old siblings. The initial surprise of the skeleton jumping out caused great excitement, but after a few turns, the thrill was gone.
I bought this game based upon the raving reviews here at toysrus.com & must say I totally disagree. It's a good concept, but gameplay isn't...

They will play this game on their own repeatedly, for much longer than any other game in the house.

My 3 yr old son loves this game. Everytime he saw the commercial he would call me over and say he wanted it. At first I thought it was going to be a hunk of junk like most others. Boy was I wrong. I took it out of the box and we have been playing it ever since. He gets so excited when you have to press the button to release Capt Bones. Definitely buy this game you and yours will have so much fun with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN AMAZING GAME!!!, December 9, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Captain Bones Gold Game (Toy)
We bought this game for our 4 year old son, he loves games but tends to lose interest in them quickly, this was not the case with this game! The premise is simple, you are trying to remove captain bones gold from the island, by spinning an anchor and moving the number of spaces indicated, after each round you press an island monkey down and captain bones awakens from his hiding place popping up from the treasure chest and spinning around before reaching out to snatch a random players gold, this is all done magnetically and even for a parent it is fun to watch, for the kids however, this is PURE MAGIC!
My four year old laughs and laughs when the gold gets stolen and has really helped to reinforce the normally abstract concept of numbers. Even my nine year old is willing to play this game, this is no small feat considering the last thing a pre-tween wants to do is hang out with a 4 year old!!!
Since buying this game a month ago I have bought it 3 more times as a gift, every parent who receives it inevitability calls me in a week or less to thank me again and tell me what a find this game is! 5 stars is simply not enough!

AWESOME game! Contrary to what the previous reviewer wrote about design flaws, our game works perfectly. The skeleton snatches the coins with flawless accuracy every time. We've played it at least a dozen times already and have not had one problem. Our 5 yr old is addicted - and it's actually a game the adults and teenagers in the family LIKE TO PLAY TOO!

I've you liked Don't Wake Daddy, you'll LOVE this game. Same principle really, the skeleton pops out and surprises the players by snatching one gold coin...sometimes it's yours, sometimes it's an opponents, sometimes he comes up empty handed because there is no game piece on the spot he chose. But it's always suspensful when he pops out! The coins do occasionally fall off the heads of the playing pieces and need to be replaced so the Cpt. Bones can steal them, but it's not a problem at all. There is a small indent on one side of the coin which fits into a peg on top of the playing piece to hold it in place. If you place it in the right spot securly, it doesn't usually fall off.

Object of the game is to make it all the way around the game board without losing your gold coin to Cpt. Bones. First player to collect 3 coins wins.

Average game time is roughly 10-15 minutes. Great for about 4 and up. Younger children need to be prepared for losing their coins - our 5 yr old son didn't like it at first (he does not lose well generally, but he is improving and this game is helping!) but he knows if he whines = game over.

Very well designed - works perfectly and great fun for all! We will be giving this as birthday gifts for a while!!

Edited to add: We brought this game to a New Years party where it was enjoyed by 10 children ranging in age from 5 to 10. Not only was it a hit, but it still works perfectly after all their typical rough play.

I bought this game based upon the raving reviews here at toysrus.com & must say I totally disagree. It's a good concept, but gameplay isn't fun enough to hold my childrens' interest. If I could go back in time, I would have spent the money on something different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing game, but fragile, July 4, 2006

This is a very, very fun game. My kids are 6 and 3, and we have never had so much fun with a game the first time we played it. The game is a little long, and I don't know if we've ever "finished" a game, but the kids still get very excited when the skeleton comes out of the treasure chest. The game is very fragile (the packaging even says so), so I expect it to break at any moment. But, as far as I'm concerned, our first hour playing the game made the purchase worth it.

My 5 year old son saw the advertisement for this game quite awhile back, and had mentioned it to me. However, in Toys R Us this morning, I happened to see it on the shelf for the QUITE reasonable price of $4.95. I thought it had to be an error! The price was correct, however, and once we got it home, my son (and I) had a terrific time playing with it! So far, we've had no problems with the game, and I'd highly recommend it

We bought this game after returning Disney Dream Sketcher....My daughter and son really loves this game. It is easy to play and fair for all...since you can't control where the pirate grabs. We have really enjoyed it so far. I am not saying this is the best board game ever, but it is worth buying IMO.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke before we could play it!, December 26, 2006
This review is from: Captain Bones Gold Game (Toy)
My kids just got this game for Christmas yesterday. We put it together, and they goofed around with it, pushing the monkey so the skeleton would come out. Before we could actually sit down to play it, the skeleton was no longer working!
