Product Description

Spin Master Games - Moustache Smash

Look! Match! Smash!

Moustache Smash is the matching game that is speedy, silly-looking fun! Each player keeps a moustache held up to their face. As each card is turned over, watch for a card matching your ‘stache in either color or shape. See a match, then smash it fast! Be the first to smash the ‘stache card and your moustache’s suction cup will pick it up and you score a point. But don’t smash the wrong card, or you’ll pay a penalty and lose two of your cards into the pot. Collect the most moustache cards and you win!

Match your ‘Stache, then Smash!

Each player holds a moustache under their nose for the entire game. Remember what it looks like! Because as each moustache card is turned over, you must watch for a match to your ‘stache: either the same color or the same shape. If they match, then smash that ‘stache card! If you’re the fastest, the suction cup on your moustache will snap the card up and you get the point. If you’re not fast enough, another player’s ‘stache will score the point.

Moustache Mash-Up

If an all-play Moustache Pass card comes up, everyone passes their moustache to the player on their left. This refreshes the game – and your silly moustachioed look – and keeps you on your toes. Don’t forget what your new moustache looks like or you might smash the wrong ‘stache card! Who wins? When the entire deck of 32 moustache cards is gone, the player with the most moustache cards wins!

Why You'll Love It

Kids will love the game because of the silly moustaches they wear. While grown ups will love that the game teaches kids spatial recognition and hand-eye coordination as kids have to remember which moustache they have under their nose and comparing it to the pictures of other moustaches. It's suspenseful, quick-thinking fun.

Moustache Smash is reminiscent of two other very popular games The game has 6 very well made plastic moustaches in black, brown and yellow. The moustaches come in three distinct varieties. They will gain a chuckle when held up to the lips, however, realistic in actual configurations. They come attached to a stick with a suction cup at the end. The dealer is asked to flip over a card and the players need to simultaneously smash the card if matches their moustache, in either shape or color. There is no need to wait your turn, which helps to keep things moving along if you are playing with a number of children. If you smashed the correct card (your moustache) you keep the card. There are cards which allow you change moustaches and cards which allow everybody to smash regardless of what moustache they have.

I always enjoy using those games that have a suction cup, as it then becomes an excellent bilateral integration activity. You need to use your two hands with coordination. Your dominant hand to smash, your helping hand to take off the card. This activity also is an excellent game for increasing visual discrimination, observation skills and response time. This is a terrific game with excellent versatility. Fun for school use, parties and family night. The box said for ages 7 and up. With a little bit of modification, I think a 6 year old could play. Highly recommended.

I hate this game. No, really. Imagine a game where your job is to place cards one at a time into the middle of a bear trap. Your goal is to get them in there and get your hand out before it gets chopped off. That's mustache smash. If you're the dealer (as parents will likely be), you have to get the card onto the table and try to get your hand out of the way before the kids smash your fingers with their suction cup mustache weapons of destruction. Notice the key word: try. You will get smashed. The mustache card probably won't. A typical game looks like this:
Dealer places first card onto table. Players slam mustache suction wands over and over until someone knocks the card close enough to their pile to call it theirs. Dealer pulls destroyed hand back, wraps in gauze, and tries again. Repeat until you get through the deck or you decide your hand has had enough and you just throw the rest onto the table and let the kids fight it out cage-match style.
I hate this game.
But the kids love it, at least for a few minutes.

Watching a group of 13 year olds play Moustache Smash is like watching a Black Friday sale with everyone fighting for the same discounted towels. I couldn't help but laugh hysterically as each girl held the mustache up to her face then frantically tried to be the first to smash the card that either matched the color or the shape of their mustache. (Mind you they had to remember which mustache they chose and what it looked like because they have to keep it up on their face at all times when the game is in play - until it's time to snatch a card). The game comes with 6 mustaches on very solid plastic sticks. There is a suction cup at the end of the mustache that allows the playing card to be snatched up quite easily. It's best to play on a solid surface to make sure the card stays put. There are 32 mustache cards of various colors and shapes. Each player takes a turn being the dealer. The dealer flips the card over for all to see - but can't cheat by flipping the card facing them first. IF a player accidentally snatches up the wrong mustache, they have to return it plus two more mustaches (if they have them) from their stash. It goes into a pot for the next player who correctly snatches up a mustache to claim. When all 32 cards are dealt, the game is over. The player left standing with the most 'stashes wins. The cards are in perfect squares - keeping the field even for all players. The mustaches feel rubbery so are less likely to cause harm if accidentally smacked into another players hand. The one thing I suggest is you have the camera at the ready! I have some great video and excellent pictures that I was able to share with the players' parents. Unfortunately, without the parents' permissions, I cannot display any of the videos or photos. They weren't comfortable with their children being seen.Read more ›

This was my entry into our family's white elephant exchange at Christmas. It got a LOT of use that night, by both kids and adults. Something strangely fun about such a silly, simple game. I think we'd managed to break a couple of the moustaches before the night was over, thanks to some... overzealous players. But it's all good, still got more than my money's worth out of it!

This is one of many gifts my son was given for Christmas. I didn't expect it to go over as well as it did and assumed he would just enjoy it as he's 3 years old and just starting to enjoy playing boardgames.
Since opening it, the first day we had to play SEVEN times! And every single day since Christmas.
It's also really fun for and enjoyable for adults to play. I have to be honest and say I love it too!
It's very simple, easy to get the hang of, and an instant family hit.

My students love to play this game in small groups. It serves as a great reinforcer and requires students to pay attention and concentrate. It is fun for all skill levels and they love holding the mustaches up to their face. It is nice that you can adapt it to be a quick game or allow it to go on for a awhile. The kids request it over and over.
